For the past two weeks I've been finishing up my volunteer application at my local hospital. And today at my orientation, she asked me where I would like to volunteer. I knew that volunteering at the pharmacy would be out of the question, so I told her anywhere she could fit me in where I'd be able to gain experience with patients.

When she learned I was pre-pharm, she said she had cleared an opportunity for another student to volunteer in the pharmacy and he never showed for the orientation. So she is going to try to get me in! I'm so happy!!! But I'm not going to get my hopes up too high, but I should meet with the head guy Monday. Wish me Luck 🙂

They did mention HIPAA in the volunteer orientation. I'm unclear on if as a volunteer I would be considered an inappropriate person to share information to. The other volunteer opportunity would have been medical records, so I would think the hospital would be in the same boat.

My boyfriend said I was more likely to get in at the nursery rocking babies than the pharmacy because I wasn't as likely to stuff a handful of babies in my pocket and run off.

And the punishment would probably be less too!
Maybe they are going to require that you wear goggles so you can't see anything and earmuffs so you can't hear anything.

Now that you mentioned it, I did see a few gagged people walking around the hospital with earmuffs on. I thought nothing of it at first.
