Dear all,
Hope you are well.
Because of COVID, my freshman year disallowed me to shadow. How might I get over this hurdle?

People have listed their HS and college shadowing hours separately. The committees I've worked with only really value the more recent work you've done but they appreciate seeing the signs of commitment. That said, get more experiences now that you are more independent and in a post COVID-19 world.

If you have 50 hours of RECENT shadowing , including some with a primary care doc, you can stop shadowing and move on to something else. You are really at the point of overkill with shadowing. How is your non clinical volunteering? What have you done to serve the unserved/underserved in your community? What are you doing for clinical experiences? You need face to face patient contact for this. You’ve got a good start but from what you’ve shared you have some work to do. Good luck.

If you were going to list it as a significant event, like, if it was the reason you decided to pursue medicine, then sure.

Otherwise, eh.
