Question about volunteering:

I transferred schools as a junior and have decided to pursue the premed path. I have researched in a lab for two years previously and have a good GPA (roughly 3.7); however, I have zero volunteering hours, whether that be clinical or nonclinical. My question is where to go from here.

I can volunteer roughly 6 hours a week over the next three semesters. Would this look bad if I had most of my volunteering hours at the end of my undergrad career? I will certainly look for meaningful places to volunteer, but my application might look weird. I am planning on taking a gap year, so I will be doing research and volunteering after undergrad.

Also, say I go to a club that does advocacy for autism. Would attending the clubs count as volunteering?

I think that you can't control what's in the past; what's done is done. So go forth and volunteer now.

As far as the autism club, I would only consider it volunteering if you have served the club or the cause in some way. Simply being present won't count.

I don't think anyone would think twice about your volunteer hours occurring towards the end of your undergrad years. Why does this concern you?
