I'm currently studying for the GRE and thinking about applying for the MPH program next year. However I don't have that much volunteer experience as far as health care is concerned. I want to volunteer at a health clinic or even work in one ideally, but I'm not qualified for anything "worthwhile" (for lack of a better word.) I'm afraid of getting stuck in an admin job as a result of this lack of experience. What do you think I should do? And where do I even begin? Any kind of advice would be helpful. Thanks so much!

From what I've heard, free clinics are more receptive to letting student volunteers do more hands-on things. As for employment, being an ER scribe, which is kind of like the ER doc's assistant, sounds pretty interesting and would provide lots of exposure, and I don't think you need prior certification or anything. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll look into that...
