Although I've had a few volunteering jobs (consistent for at least a few months), most of my non-clinical volunteering comes from random events (From whichever club with a cause I happened to put my name on the email sheet) and only lasts from a few hours to maybe a weekend. These involve things like distributing food for the homeless, spreading information on abuse, or helping out at my sisters' elementary that kind of stuff.

The question(s): Would this count? I do it enough, that altogether it racks up almost as many hours as someone consistently volunteering--the problem is that they don't all fall under the same category (unless that category was "Miscellaneous") so I wouldn't know how to mention it....
Or should I not bother keep count of those things anymore and stay with a consistent volunteering job-type thing.

Hope that made sense, thanks 🙂

Definitely keep track of them. If you can group them by club or anything like that or if you just list it as "miscellaneous volunteering" and explain yourself, they can be put on your application. A couple of hours every now and then might not be worth listing, but if it's frequent and a worthwhile enough experience, it can't hurt.

I would think it counts. Shows your flexible. That's important.
Worth mentioning if some of the experiences helped shape you as a person.

There are two reasons to list club membership on an app
1. You held a leadership position
2. You participated in regular community service through the club.

So go ahead, keep track, and include it.

Track it. If you have good memories of it and you can talk about it, it is worthwhile.

Well like I said, I've written my name on so many email lists of multiple clubs that I don't even remember I'm part of the club until they need volunteers--I don't go to weekly meetings, but I'll help if it works in my schedule.

Thanks, I'll start keeping better track of them if they actually are important afterall 🙂
