Advice, please!

I have a chronic illness and unfortunately, my health has really sucked this semester. Now I feel like I am playing catch up just to keep my head above the water in my classes. I'm in physics 2 right now, but I failed the first two exams. We get one drop exam, but I would assume I will end the class with a C, if that. Do I withdraw and retake it this summer (hopefully) when I am doing better or push through?

For reference, I am a junior (TX resident) with a 3.61 cGPA and a 3.36 sGPA. +I have 1 W and 1 C (tragically from the same class sophomore year)

Thanks!!

I've never said that a W is equivalent to a C. While a W that looks as if one is trying to avoid an A- in order to preserve a 4.0 is not a good look, the OP is far from a 4.0 and is obviously not caught up in some attempt at perfection.

Far better to take a W than to earn a C which will drag down your GPA.

This totally sucks, so I'm sorry you are unfortunately in this position. If you already have a C, why on earth did you retake it, since all schools will accept grades of C and above for prereqs?

TBH, there will be nothing to be gained by taking the same class for a third time, since you have already passed it. You will not be getting a gold star from anyone for getting an A on the third try, and anything less would be really bad. So my advice would be to either take the W or C (doesn't really matter in this case) and forget about another retake. Just move on. Good luck, and take care of yourself.

OP, withdraw. A C will impact your sGPA negatively and your sGPA is already low. A W won’t impact your GPAs at all. Are you really currently taking Physics 2 for the third time?

Sorry for the confusion, the W and C I already have were from the same past class, not physics. This is my first time taking Physics 2

If I said that about W's, I think it was more like an F than a C (to many people on adcoms). With a W you didn't complete the class, so hence it's like an F but without messing up your GPA. Taking a W due to health would be understandable, but the result is still "did not complete the requirement." There are situations where a transcript lists a "failing withdrawal" which would get my attention as it could signal an IA.

Now P's could be considered like C's. Maybe that is what you remember.
