I was told I was on a school's waitlist back in November...I recently asked them where I was on the waitlist and they told me I was currently #3 and that they held their list until June 1. Any thoughts on what the odds are that I'll end up getting in?

I think you definately have a good chance. With the average applicant applying to 10 DPT programs not everyone will be attending where they are accepted. You are very high on the wait list which is a plus. Keep your head up I know the waiting game is tourture. Good Luck

I was recently waitlisted and told I was #1 on the list... was offered admission not even a week later. I think you have pretty good odds! It's probably just taking so long bc those who put down a deposit are waiting until they hear from other schools. Good luck!

I was #5 on the waitlist two weeks ago and just got an acceptance on Monday. Your chances are really good!!!!

Good luck!!!

How do you guys find out your ranking on the waitlist? I'm currently on the waitlist for 2 schools.

My school stated it in the "waitlist notification" email I received. Some schools do not divulge your ranking. You might try calling/emailing to ask. good luck!

just wanted to let you know i was wait listed and just found out that im accepted!!! it took a while (6 weeks) to get off the waitlist... so hope is still there. Don't give up hope! Just a thought for you... I sent the department a letter of continued interest after I got waitlisted and I think that might have really helped out alot.

Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, what program did you get into?

I'm so glad you got in. Woohoo!!!!

Just thought I would update and let everyone know that I got an e-mail saying I had been admitted into the program I had been wait listed for! Although I got into my #1 choice a couple weeks ago (UK) so I had to decline my spot. But don't give up hope! People DO get in off the lists..

University of Evansville..a smaller school in Indiana.

I like this thread even though it's old.

I wonder why the school I'm waitlisted at said people don't get off the list until April/May. I hope they choose people as seats become available and not hold them until April/May.

Also, what are some reasons people get off the waitlist other than getting accepted somewhere else?

I know people can get off the waitlist even after a program has started because some students drop out the first week. Some people also take themselves off waitlists after hearing back from other schools. If after the academic update the student no longer meets a requirement that is also another reason someone could be taken off. I hope this helps, I'm on the waitlist at 2 schools right now and I really like this thread too! Best of luck =)

Wow ! That's new info for me. Thanks. I hate hearing about people dropping out later in the year. What a waste. Thank you! We can only have faith at this point. I hope you get chosen!

I was a little late in getting my final required reccomendation letter in and was put on UTC's wait list. Their program doesn't have an interview, and they said their waiting list is organized by overall GPA, science GPA, and GRE score. In the email they said they won't disclose where you are on the waiting list but I have a 3.96 GPA with a 320 GRE so hopefully that will put me at the top of the list, and hopefully people will make theie decisions soon and I'll get some good news soon! I just pray I'm not waiting until April or May before accepted applicants begin to make a decision!

How were you not accepted with stats like thosequolateapp

I had my applications in by October to most places, so a little later than I would have lliked but still well within the deadlines, but my application was considered incomplete as I was waiting until December for my final reference letter from a physical therapist to be written and my observation hours confirmed.

But luckily since then the interviews have been rolling in, even from places who supposedly already passed their deadline. And hopefully I'll be towards the top of UTC's waiting list and won't be waiting for too long.

Yeah you have to be toward the top! That's extremely good!

Were you directly told by the school where you were on the wait list? Or did you email them asking? Would it be appropriate to email and ask them where I stand on the wait list?

I was told through email or mail. I wouldn't ask unless it's past the point that you would've heard from them. I was waiting a long time from one school so I emailed them asking when decisions would be made. Every school I have applied to do not rank their waitlists. I think they would tell you where you stand if they do rank them.
