Sure I'll bite...

WFU, WVU, NYMC, EVMS, and expected at ECU

Maybe you can make us some celebratory drinks at wake or EVMS this August eh @le_bartender?

It would be my pleasure. Hope you like Cheerwine and rum, because after this application cycle, that's gonna be about how much effort I'm willing to put into making drinks haha.

Let's make this more interesting. Where's everybody WL at? (if you're willing to share, I mean)
For me it's Tulane and Wake Forest, and I'll find out about EVMS in may once I finish their Med Masters program.
Cooper!

I am on the waitlist for the waitlist at Case. Should find out if I'm in the wait list in a couple of weeks. I was also waitlisted at Loyola, but f*** that school and their jerk interviewers, so I withdrew. And still waiting to hear back from University of Illinois.

Becomes of your username, I read that in the voice of Tyrion Lannister. Made this dismal day of studying for my Biochem exam suddenly much much better.

Hahah I'm more of a Cersei, really.

-Me, to all the medical schools that rejected me.

Just got my 3rd WL at Jeff. That one hurt really bad. I feel like there's only so much rejection I can take. Also on EVMS and NYMC.

I'm waitlisted at UT Houston and UT Southwestern, and I haven't heard back from Baylor College of Medicine (and I doubt I will since my MCAT is their bottom 10th %).

I tell myself not to think about the wait list, but it's hard not to when I hear about friends/classmates getting accepted to these schools. I actually really like the school I'm slated to attend, but I'd love to live in Houston or Dallas. Especially Houston!

I once met a doctor who had been waitlisted or rejected at all his prospective schools and totally gave up and moved to Spain. Well, he was still on the wl and got the call the day before the White Coat Ceremony and flew back on a red eye. The rest is history!

Called a school two weeks ago regarding my post-interview status. Over the phone I was notified it was an acceptance and I should expect papermail. Today I got an email about a waitlist. Called. Turns out they told me the wrong status over the phone and I'm on the Waitlist 🙁

Not gonna lie I'd probably destroy everything within reach if that happened to me.

Really sorry to hear that man, chin up though you've still got hope

I'm so so sorry that happened to you, that really blows. Maybe they'll feel guilty enough that they'll bump you to the top of the wait list?

Hehe, well that's worse than mine. I got accepted via portal and got it reversed once I emailed them about them getting the years wrong. I even got an email from some of the admissions people that was sent to me by accident with something along the lines of "lol this applicant got denied", followed by an official email from their head honcho correctly addressed to me saying that it was a mistake. I think there was someone two years ago who also had the same issue on their portal, but didn't mention it to them. Think that guy's MS2 there now....

Geez. I wouldn't even want to go to that school after going through that ordeal.

Eh, can't base a school off its admissions people. Georgetown for instance.
True, but easier said than done. I can't help but judge Loyola as a school after my disaster of an interview.

I had 4 II's and am now on 3 waitlists and have one I might still be waiting to hear back from for another month or two. Is there any sort of deadline on when schools can give you a decision after an interview? Like, could they wait until June or July without even saying if I'm on the waitlist or not?

I think its april 30th

I think its april 30th

I thought that was just the date when we have to be holding only one acceptance. I didn't think the schools had any obligations to us on that date.

This is correct. April 30th is just a traffic day when applicants can hold at most one acceptance. It's not a set deadline date for med schools to notify applicants of a decision post-interview.

Wow that's a cool story. Just goes to show that you never give up even if your on WL late into the summer.

Have to say, I feel like I'm terrible at interviewing given my stats my poor post interview acceptance rate. Hoping for some waitlist love soon

I'll let you know when I start to see movement.
It doesn't usually start until after traffic day, though.

@gyngyn looking at previous posts there doesn't seem to be much movement for university of marylands wait list. Do you have any insight from previous years? It would be much appreciated! currently holding 0 acceptances if that makes a difference

So sorry dude. That's sort of like what happened to me this year. One school sent me ANOTHER APPLICANT'S rejection. Then they tried to recall the email and sent an apology. I stupidly got my hopes up but got my own rejection a WEEK later...

I got a "pre-interview rejection" email from my state school WHILE AT THE INTERVIEW. Then I got another email saying that was a mistake... Then 6 months later I got the post-interview rejection email... So dumb... I was thinking that might have been a mistake too but apparently it was not. Oh well.

We have very little overlap with the U of Maryland, so I have little to share, I'm afraid.

That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. : (

That's unfortunate your state school did that to you 🙁.

What makes you say "fatchance" to UCSD WL?

The waitlist for SD in recent years has had very little movement. I've also heard that they pull off the WL based on class demographics but I'm unsure if that is true.

Hey @gyngyn , I have a question for you. I'm currently writing a letter of interest to a school (one that has been very clear that they want to continue to hear from you, otherwise I wouldn't be writing a second one), and I was wondering, as someone who works in admissions, which is preferable: why you feel a school is the best fit for you, or what you will be able to contribute to the class? Or should it be a combination?
