Hey all, I recently interviewed at an M.D. school (11-11-11) and will, according to admissions, be hearing back from them at the latest by next month.

Overall, I am a competitive applicant in terms of both GPA and extracurricular involvement/clinical experience, but my MCAT is on the lower end (really only due to a poor VR score, which ironically is my strength).

If I had to guess, I will not be receiving another interview this cycle, and the school that I interviewed at is close to home and I really love it. I would really like to matriculate there. I have already learned that this school accepts letters of intent, but my thought process here split at two separate ideas:

(A) Wait until receiving a denial or wait list notification before writing my letter of intent. This way, if I am wait-listed, my letter will come post-wait-list and it will hopefully have a greater influence on the committee.

(B) Or am I wrong, and a LOI pre-waitlist will show that I truly wish to attend this school, and that I did not write the letter because I had been denied or heard negative news back from another school. I wrote the letter right (or soon after) my interview.

Thoughts?

We generally tell people to wait for a decision before writing letters, but your mileage may vary.

Appreciate the advice y'all. Hopefully I can decide on a plan here pretty soon
