I was complete end of Oct. and am waiting for interviews. The wait has really gotten me down and my grades are slipping. I was wondering if getting a C in Fall semester of senior year would hurt my application?

I started working at a lab (I quit my previous lab after ~2 years). Should I send an update... just to remind them about my application. AND... if I do sent the update, would I also need to send my transcript with it?

Thanks and sorry if this is a repeat question. I fail at using search functions 🙁

Its hard to say how much a C will hurt your application. It obviously isn't a positive and I would do whatever possible to keep this from happening.

As for sending an update- You really aren't explaining anything exceptional to write about. Did you recently get published in a major journal? Did you go on a medical mission trip to Africa?

I personally don't intend to submit anything this semester. I haven't joined or quit anything, and my grades are the same as they have always been. The only thing that is different is I worked a little more than I put on my amcas, and I dropped a friday class.

I think the biggest issue is to be patient! You were complete just over a month ago..of course you're not going to get any interviews that soon! I was complete back in July and got my first interview in mid-November. You were complete late in the cycle, so you're going to be near the bottom of schools' application piles. No update letter will move you up in the pack right now.

Hm. Not really. My main intention was to remind them of my application. I guess if there's nothing awesome about the research, I don't have to send an update.

Thanks for your advice guys! My career center is completely useless despite having a huge pre-med student population at the school.

Forgot to say that I was complete end of September... not October. Don't know if that makes a big difference.

Patience is key. I was complete late OCT too. I have had a few invites but haven't heard a peep from most of my schools even the state ones. Hang in there!🙂
