waiting for UT

ooh yes!! Kat, UT is your instate, right? When did you interview?

I wish the letters would be here tomorrow...I just had an exam and I have 2 more next week so I want to have some good news leading up to midterms!! Of course tomorrow is way too early to get them
 
my sisters came up with this weird idea that since UT made it through the 2nd round of NCAA basketball, I got an interview...then if UT gets in the final 4, I get accepted, but if they dont, I get waitlisted.

Apparently my family thinks my fate is in the hands of the UT basketball team.
 
Maybe THATS why I didn't get into NCSU....
 
I really wish they would just send an e-mail.

I'm also REALLY really nervous and can't stand to think about what's going to happen if I don't get in.
 
I know just how you feel, Moonpaw! Every day I go to the mailbox, both dreading and hoping what I may find...which so far has just been nothing!😱 I think I might go crazy before I ever find out whether or not I got in. Does any one have any clues about when we'll hear?
 
During the info session, Dean Brace said that decisions should be have been made, and letters will be mailed out at the latest by...well, today, he said. So we should probably know sometime next week.
 
Off the top of my head, I think last year's acceptances came around April 3rd.

Yes, UT is my instate school (and the only one I applied to!)

I interviewed on Thurs. 3/20 at 4:30.

I really hope we get something by monday!

april 3rd? I don't think I can wait that long! Even finding out this coming Monday or Tuesday seems too far away!!:scared:
 
He said in the info session that the letters would either be sent Thursday, Friday or Monday. Last year they were sent Monday (BOO!) and most of us got them either Wednesday or Thursday...which last year, I believe was the 3rd or 4th. Hope this helps....

That means the rest of us should have it sometime nest Monday or Tuesday. Yay. Thanks for the info Dyachei
 
I talked with Susan Cherry today and she told me she mailed all of the letters yesterday. I hope on Monday to hear all of you are coming to UT!
 
Hopefully we'll all be joining the class of 2012, critterfixer! I loved the school and everyone there - the staff, faculty, students, were so nice and welcoming when I was there for my interview! Thank you for the heads up that letters went out yesterday!

It was mentioned by Dean Brace and also my interviewers that the class size will be increasing from 70 to 85, but they didnt know what year that would start. Does anyone at UTK know if they're increasing the size for the incoming class? (I hope so!)
 
Dean Brace will only say that it will happen when he can work out the logistics. Not only do they have to be able to accomodate 15 more students in anatomy lab, micro lab, and parasitology lab, but there is the question of where to put the larger class for lecture. Splitting the class into 3 sections instead of 2 seems to make the most sense for lab, but scheduling the professors for 3 sections is much harder than it sounds.

Our class would be decidedly unhappy to spend another year in the first year classroom, which I am sure you noticed, is not really very accomodating and could not house 85 students. There is a lot of discussion going on as to just how to make the class size increase happen in a way that works, with minimal growing pains. I don't envy the administration this task at all!

So the long and the short of it is that I think they are working hard to make it happen, with no guarantees. 🙂

They certainly led us to believe it would be happening this year. They have voted on it and need to work out a way to implement it. One obstacle is that the first year classroom really can't hold that many people. There is talk of putting next year's first years in another classroom, but nothing is concrete. i just checked the email they sent us and there was nothing on when they would put it into place, just that they voted on it.
 
I asked my interviewers about it, and they said the increase was definitely happening for the incoming class, so I guess they have an idea of what to do with the extra 15 students a year.
 
I know someone who got an acceptance today! Congrats to that person! 😍

Shemari, what state are you in? I'm in NY, and I'm afraid that it's going to take until tomorrow for the letter to get here, in which case I might spontaneously combust. This waiting is killing me, and it's no help that I've been hearing reports of people getting letters starting on Saturday.

And CONGRATS!!!!! With any luck, we'll be classmates *fingers and toes crossed*
 
I'm in Ithaca, NY...the mail gets here pretty early though - it came around 12:30, and I know some towns, like my hometown, doesn't get mail until 3 or so..

good luck!! I can't wait to hear from my future classmates!! I have my fingers crossed for you!!!

i'm stuck on campus from 8am til atleast 9 tonight, so this is driving me nuts knowing that it might be in my mailbox & i have no clue🙁
 
I just called my mom (the letter is going to my house, because I'm pretty sure my school would take waaaay too long to get it sorted), and of course, she's still at work. I wonder if one of my neighbors will check it for me...
 
I got in! Holla! I probably won't be accepting but who knows...I could have a last minute change of heart...the weather in Knoxville is way better than the weather in St Paul, MN. Congrats to everyone else who got in...and to anyone who got waitlisted, I am probably giving up my spot so don't lose hope!
 
I'm in FL and I was wait listed 🙁 I loved it there! does anyone know if they tell you your rank if you call or email? Congratulations to everyone who got in!! 🙂
 
Congrats on the acceptances! Fingers still crossed for you, Moonpaw! And our waitlist moves pretty fast, so anyone on the waitlist definitely has a shot.
 
Way to go SDNers on the acceptances and waitlists! We definitely had several people in our class get in off the waitlist, so don't lose hope! I can't wait to see everyone in the fall.

Just for clarification, I confirmed today with the admin that they're accepting 85 into this year's class.

Aww, thanks guys! I can't wait to meet you all and hear back from everyone else!

I just realized, however, how new this will all be for me...I've never had to live so far away from family before, and I really have NO family in the area. I've always lived in on-campus dorms, with other students, so I've always had a roommate, and everything is pretty close by.

This should be really interesting. :laugh:
 
Same here. I am extremely close with my family, and I've never been more than 3 hours away from them. I'm already freaking out about it! Plus my dogs and horse will be at home, and I absolutely hate being away from them! They have separation anxiety whenever I leave the house, even if my sisters or parents are there!

One of my good friends from school applied, and I'm waiting to hear how it went for her...it would be great to know another person in the area!
 
I got in too!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! *hugs everyone*

I think I will choose UTK over Purdue (much closer to home, better weather) but haven't decided officially yet. And then I'd still be waiting to see how/where I am at Auburn.

I sm SO EXCITED!!!!! :biglove: I just LOVED UTK.
 
I was accepted as well!!!😀 I'm super excited, I just loved the school and everyone was so nice! Yay UTK CVM!

Hey congratulations to everyone! I got my acceptance in the mail today too! I loved it out there... Knoxville is gorgeous and UTK has an amazing exotics program, but I'm still waiting to make my final decision. 😳
 
I also got accepted! I am still thinking about Which school to choose. It is a hard decision everyone has been soo nice. I am thinking I may got to Wisconsin though they seem to have a bigger dairy program. It is just hard to turn Tenn down🙁 Well I will decide soon then maybe someone on the waitlist will get in whichever school I choose. 😍UTenn

I got my acceptance letter today too! I saw the mailman pull up and I stalked him until he finished putting everyones mail in their boxes (I live in an apt). It seemed like it was going to take forever for him to finish!​

I absolutely love UTK and I can't believe I am actually in. It just seemed like I was never going to know. So I guess I will be meeting you all in the fall! Congrats to everyone else!
 
Congrats! Is that everyone on SDN? It seems like there are an awful lot of you. Ditto what pressmom said, if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask or PM. I remember how psyched I was this time last year!
