waiting to take step 2

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone else ready, but waiting until later in August to take step 2 so they can apply to ERAS without step 2?

No--if you're ready why wait?
Step 2 scores are going to be seen by programs anyway.
Why would we want to risk losing knowledge (when we are this close in proximity to third year clerkships) just to 'delay' the inevitable.

I am toying with the idea as well...I know ill do fine but shooting myself in the foot witrh a lowerstep 2 score could cost an interview or to, IMHO.

Yes! Technically, I'm "ready," I guess, because I've already scored above my Step 1 score on a practice test. However, I don't want my score to be automatically submitted on ERAS, and I figure that my score can only go up with more studying, which I am doing right now. I don't think you lose anything by waiting (as long as you continue to study), and there's certainly a lot to gain (possibly a higher score and definitely the ability to withhold a lower score before interview invitations are offered). I did go ahead and take Step 2 CS just to get it out of the way, though.

Are you guys planning to submit your ERAS on September 1 or wait until you get step 2 scores back? One month seems like a long time to wait while schools might be offering interviews. Do you think if one gets turned down for an interview before one gets step 2 back, the program might reconsider if we update them with our step 2 scores? It seems like overall it might be safer to still submit on September 1- thoughts?
