They are?! Are they within the time period given for WL acceptances or are they holding on to them from before April 30th?
It’s more likely that they got off a bunch of WLs after an acceptance and are holding onto them all for the moment. If everyone who had an acceptance right now just kept their acceptance and stopped waiting on waitlists then I’m sure we’d see a lot more movement

I see. Well hopefully we see some more WL movement and people start picking spots sooner rather than later 🙂

@gyngyn Have you seen much from Case Western? They’ve been very quiet this year...🙁

How are you guys coping with this crazy process?

I’m still trying to figure that out. Distraction worked for a little bit but now I haven’t been sleeping well (been up about every hour) and it’s the only thing on my mind most of the day and night.

This. The sleep quality these past few months is just terrible.

Keeping myself busy any way possible. Mostly working. Hobbies (have a big cross stitch piece I've been working on since January, gives me some sort of goal to work for). Working on new round of applications which hurts my heart. Just putting one foot in front of the other. Even though scribing is a cliche premed job now, seeing patients every day helps me keep up the motivation to keep going.

To be honest, its been hard to cope. You try not to think too much about it and to distract yourself, but in the end this is something that is really important for all of us so the anxiety is understandable since it shows we care.

As for myself, i have been working out, running, going to class, working full time, spending time with my loved ones. Get that ball rolling so fast that it wont stop no matter the obstacle it faces

Focusing on eating better and exercising morning and evening. Its still super stressful, but when you do get the call you don't want to show up out of shape on a bad sleep cycle.
To add to this I’ve found meditation to be really helpful and I was one of those that didn’t believe in it but it helps the sleeping

wow, you guys really do deal with stress healthily (is that a word??). I'm just gonna be honest and say I'm listening to my body, and that means binge watching Netflix shows i like, spending time outdoors (not running, hell nah) and funny memes on the internet

I also try to avoid any and all responsibilities that aren't absolutely necessary right now. I have enough stress.

That's just me

Long time lurker of this thread, thought I'd post for some potential good juju. Waiting on one WL and it'd be my only acceptance. Fingers crossed for everyone here!

Yo I really thought I was the only person who uses juju as a word so I appreciate this even more 🙂

New member here posting for the first time. This group has been fire for the support it shows its hopeful pre-meds so thank you all. On 2 WL with no acceptances. Here’s hoping everyone hears something by the end of next week!

In the exact same boat. Hoping for some good news for us all soon!!

+3. I’m just waiting for this to end

First time posting, living through you all trying to stay sane while working on reapplying. My 1 WL doesn't see movement until the middle of June, and usually July, so I've still got some time to go. Have a week off of work this week and I don't know what to do with all this extra time so spending time worrying about how far away June still is and reading about people getting accepted will have to work.

Every night I go to sleep excited for the next day, and every day I wake up disappointed to see no WL movement at the schools I'm listed at. Just an overall brutal cycle

The only thing worse is waking up to see your schools have WL movement that doesn't include you.

At least 4-5x as many are pulled off waitlists vs those who post from what I've seen so far.
True but you would think that at least 1/4 or 1/5 would post here not to mention that many schools hand out multiple acceptances in a day so the odds of finding out should be in our favor

Some schools that seem to historically have a lot (not just last year but like last 4+ years) have had nobody to < 5 (total since May 1) post on both the threads and the WL tracker. And Facebook groups! I'm assuming that just means it's slow not just a sudden drop in WL movement coincidentally but that's just where I'm looking not every school.

TBH if I get in I don't care how long I have to wait haha I just want to know if it happens or not. I've had a full time job for the last two years and I told them idk what my life is right now if I'm leaving or going and they're fine with it thankfully

Hey don’t forget to add to the WL tracker and feel free to share the link on other pages. It’d be cool to analyze the data if enough people report back but so far there isn’t enough reporting to analyze anything!

Lol when a bunch of other people get into the schools you’re waitlisted at and you keep telling yourself it’s just slowly moving. Gotta keep the faith I guess

I feel like when I started my application last year I was so starry eyed and full of hope, but when I try to get working on reapplication, I just can’t get myself to become fully motivated. This process is rough :/ Anyone else going through something similar?
I can empathize with that sentiment. We were naive with optimism, and that was enough to fuel us through secondaries and interview prep. This cycle has been humbling, to say the least; for some, including myself, it's been humiliating.

I was on 3 waitlists last year and had to reapply and didn't get in. Here I am my second app cycle with ONE acceptance and it feels GREAT! It just takes one acceptance to make you feel like your whole future is about to start. Just remember that it's going to be okay. You only need one acceptance. If not this year, pick yourself up and try again. Either way you won't stop improving until you get where you want to be. I promise once you get in the bitter nihilism goes away!

If I may ask, what schools were you waitlisted at last year? 3 seems like a decent bet

So from what I understand, schools can see which programs an applicant has already been accepted into? And they can kinda use that information to determine whether or not they want to accept that applicant off their waitlist? (Which is so wrong imo)

So to make this personal, I’m on a waitlist right now at my preferred school but I’m (very luck to have been) accepted/committed to a program (super far away from my home and also super expensive). Will the school that waitlisted me look at my acceptance and decide they don’t need to accept me, because I got an acceptance somewhere else, and prefer to accept someone who hasn’t been accepted anywhere yet? Does it ever work that way?

What you are describing is called ‘poaching’ and that does exist, there are multiple threads on it here. But, schools will decide to accept you depending on how strong your application is and how well you fit the mission, not whether you hold acceptances at other schools or not

One could argue however that number of acceptances is correlated with strength of application, since you need a strong application to get multiple IIs -> As in the first place. Meaning that people on waitlist who hold more acceptances are more likely to get off than those who do not. Of course it’s just theoretical though and there are likely many exceptions

Unfortunately, there are too many variables in this process to consistently "know" how it works. In some cases having an acceptance elsewhere is helpful, and in others it's neutral. I guess it's possible it could be detrimental, but wouldn't you rather have an acceptance and wait versus not?

If you are already accepted somewhere, when should you give up on a waitlist school and start looking for housing?
tbh I would start now, at least to get an idea of what's available. Housing can be really easy or really difficult to find depending on the city. In some places it's easy to find a lease that starts in a month but in others it can be hard if you don't have two or three months. Just my two cents!

My accepted school starts on June 25th even though my waitlist school starts in August, so I put off the move til last minute (June 15th). I'm actively looking for housing but I'm not putting money into it until as late as possible. Maybe you could consider a sublease? Something short term just in case you have to bail.
