This just dawned on me. Will a school that you're wait listed at consider your (re)application for an interview only after the original cycle ends? If so then theoretically I could be invited to interview again only to be accepted off the wait-list a week after the interview.

😕 I guess I should contacts the deans of school's I'm wait listed at.

yeah I'm in a similar situation. i wouldn't dwell on it too much, if you get accepted off the wait list then you'll just withdraw your app. no biggie.

I do not think it should be an issue. If anything, it just shows you are dedicated to medicine and that you would really like to go to their school. Also, if you have done anything significant in the last year, they will see it in you new application.

Most schools don't start interviewing until September, well after classes begin for M1s. At this point, waitlist movement will be slim, though still possible. The best you can do right now is just continue to convey your interest in the schools. I'm not sure if they will hold off on reviewing your application until after the 2011-2012 cycle is officially over. Perhaps they will do this for people that are at the very top of the waitlist and thus still have a chance?

Thanks for the responses guys. My worry is that those schools where im waitlisted at will sit on my app until early August when classes start before deciding weather or not to offer another interview.

I think penguin meant wait list movement between now and september will be slim, not after that.

no way, they won't intentionally put you at a disadvantage by shuffling you to the bottom of a pile because you're on the WL. this is just my guess but I cannot see this happening. if anything them knowing you're on their WL would be an advantage IMO.

I hope so. I wanted to see if I did the right things to improve my app in the eyes of Pitt and they won't even talk to me because they have a strict no giving advice to wait-listers policy.( they'll talk to any other random premed though) I hope this doesn't translate into the admissions process for waitlistees.

Waitlist movement typically stops by the end of June. Any openings thereafter are likely due to extenuating circumstances like someone pulling out last minute because they decided against med school and not something you should count on.

lol if you made it far enough to get an interview and WL position at Pitt (wow congratS!) i'm sure you'll be good. cheers to reapplying woo

🙁 sorry, if it helps I got in off a waitlist. Indicating as much interest as possible to the adcoms without annoying them is the best thing to do right now.

Yea, what I meant is that since classes usually begin in August, schools will stop pulling from the waitlist before then (or during orientation week only if absolutely necessary). Interviews don't start at most schools until very late August or September, and therefore it's pretty improbable to interview at a school while still on the waitlist from the previous cycle (unless the school starts very late and begins interviewing very early). Sorry for the confusion.

I'm more curious how the "app status" page is going to look  . Do they just change systems or do we get to see both years of shtuff on Pitt's website?
