Waitlisted at Duke

Can anyone offer any advice for increasing one's chances of getting off the wait-list at Duke? In the letter I received, it stated that calls regarding order/rank on the wait-list are not encouraged. How true is this statement and would the admissions staff be very upset if I called to ask what my place is on the wait-list? Does it hurt to aggressively show them your wish to go to Duke?

I also am on the waiting list. My premed advisor talked to some people from Duke's admissions office last week at a conference, and they both said the waitlist WOULD NOT be moving before May 15 (in case you were wondering). There's a Dookie lurking on these forums that got in off the waitlist last year, and I'm sure they'll tell you to send a letter of intent. Good luck to us all in waitlist purgatory.
