Guys,
I interviewed with Wayne State on 23rd November. I received an email informing me I am waitlisted. The one unique issue I face is that I am a Canadian applicant.
I read existing threads but could not not find anything specific for international applicants.

What should I do?

For people with knowledge of how waitlists work, where do I stand?

I have a 36M, 3.85cGPA.

I am planning on going overseas for two months for volunteer work starting in Feb., is that a good idea?

Every school has slightly different waitlist processes. Some schools "rank" their waitlist, other schools don't. Some schools may be constantly reviewing the applicants in the waitlist, other schools don't start looking at the waitlist until March/spring. Have you read the school-specific thread for Wayne State? (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=823527&highlight=wayne+state) There may be some information in there for you. You can also call the school's admissions office (anonymously) and ask if you can get any feedback on the waitlist position. Also ask if they are receptive to update letters or letters of interest.

Is this the only school you applied to? If not, focus on the rest of your schools! A big part of this process is waiting, unfortunately.

:luck:

I am also on the waitlist for Wayne State. Looking back at WSU-SOM threads from previous years it seems like there is a lot of waitlist movement. Lets hope that we both get in :xf:

I've heard otherwise... a lot of my friends never got off, but still got in else where. I've met a handful who ended up neighboring schools toledo, wright, oakland, msu etc. OP, being a canadian it will without a doubt be a bit more difficult..

just wait it out and pray.
