It sucks...Nova wait-listed me, and I still have 2 more to hear from. Let's keep our fingers crossed for an acceptance! :xf:

Don't give up hope... at least you still have two more schools to hear from! I am waiting on Indiana too! If you don't mind me asking... Are you in-state or out-of-state? How did they contact you?

Yes, I feel your pain. I got waitlisted last year from three schools I got interview from and didn't get in at the end. At least, you still have two more to go. Good luck 😉

I am an OOSer and they didn't contact me...I checked AADSAS

Tini, hoping the best for you! You'll make it.

Just wanted to check. I know some OOS got a blank on their Indiana status. You said you got a 'waitlisted'. This could mean that the blankers will be accepted later tonight.

Hi OP, look on the bright side, you aren't rejected yet 😀
My friend got a rejection letter from OSU today, he's from ohio with 22AA/22TS/22PAT.
His rejection letter said that this year the accepted average at OSU is:
21AA 21PAT and 3.8 for in state
21AA 22PAT and 3.83 for OOS
So Ohio State has officially aligned itself to the canadian dental school admission standard 🙁

be grateful you still have a chance at it 😀

Tini, no worries. Almost all of the OOS applicants waitlisted at Ohio State are eventually asked to join the incoming class. This has been the case for the past several years, since OOS applicants are usually so competitive that they have many choices, and many choose not to go to Ohio State. The line moves quickly after December, you'll be fine!

That is great and all, but I am IS for OSU, OOS for Indiana, and advice for that? 🙁 I want to go there so bad

Dangit Tini you ruined my day...jk but I am in the same boat...I didnt think anything was going to happen till tomorrow and I just checked only to see OSU waitlist... I tried calling because now I just want to know where I am on the waitlist but it went straight to a voice mail. I am assuming we will receive an email tomorrow saying we are waitlisted and to call to find out where we are on the waitlist. I guess its good news for anyone that had an OSU interview and doesnt have waitlisted on aadsas. Now we just have to wait even longer to hear if we will ever be accepted.... Hopefully Kentucky will pull through for me tomorrow

How are you guys finding out already? It's still november 30th where I live..

Rejections and waitlistings are free game pre-dec. 1st

wow decision already? i interviewed at indiana and my status still says "invited for interview" do they let u know as soon as midnight hits?

wouldn't worry too much, the oos list moves, only one from the oos list didn't get in last year so keep your head up

This is for initial acceptances. Of course the best students will get in ahead of others. But a lot will also choose to go elsewhere. Their averages will drop after a month or two. If not, then they will have one of the highest incoming class averages I have ever seen

Is this just for people who were already on the waitlist? Cause I got an email from them about a spring interview, and it said that since I am OOS, it would only be an interview for an alternate position...would that be included in that OOS list from which a lot of people are accepted?

OO, my bad, didn't clarify, I was talking about OSU, I have no idea about Indiana. In fact, i'm in the exact same position you are.

Don't feel bad. I'm IS and I got waitlisted too after they told me how much they wanted me. Does anybody know how the waitlist moves for IS applicants?

Well they did say only 3 ppl remained on the instate waitlist last year so there is a lot of hope

That is true, though I think that was a fluke. That or the calibar of in state applicants is getting high enough that many choose to go out of state. I would call the admissions office, find out where you are in the list, and ask the likelihood of acceptance

waitlisted at Indiana =( notified via email

I'M Waitlisted for Both Louisville and Indiana. This is a horrible feeling. It is what it is.

So, I received a letter from them too. But mine doesn't sound like a waitlist letter.

"Unfortunately, because the quality of the applicant pool is so outstanding, you were not selected in our first round of acceptances. However, your application will be reviewed again in the spring for an alternate position. Traditionally, IUSD goes deep into the alternate list and selection for this list is very advantageous. "

So, if i am lucky, can i expect to be accepted later in the spring?

Also, please let me know if your waitlist letter is different from mine.

Same letter...gee i hope that means waitlisted, i thought it was pretty clear

I got the same exact letter. That letter makes me think If we are lucky we will get in late spring. I would hope to hear sooner. On predents, those accepted have had several interviews, so they will likely have multiple acceptances. In addition we will be competing against those interviewing in the spring for the same seats.

I hope so!!. Because during the meeting, Dr. Kasberg did mention about putting only 30 people on the waitlist.
But, the letter states that we will be reviewed again for the alternate list. I thought this means I am not waitlisted yet but will be one of the candidates for the waitlist.
Sigh.. I don't know. At least, it is not a rejection.

Yea. so let's not worry. still 6 more months till this cycle is over!!

Yeah, maybe you're right....the wording is ambiguous at best. I only had 3 interviews, all out of state so here's to hoping =/

Time to search how alternate list for indiana went last year!!

I got both, but I think my letter is for the waitlist...this is what it says:

The Admission Committee of Indiana University School of Dentistry has selected alternates for the 2010 entering class. I am writing to inform you have been selected as an alternate. When a regularly accepted applicant declines our admission to IUSD, we notify an alternate at once and offer him/her a place in the class, provided all requirements are or will be completed by June 30, 2010. As positions become available, we immediately contact alternates by e-mail and by phone in the order they are ranked.

The urgency with which we must contact alternates necessitates that you assume responsibility to provide the Office of Records & Admissions with a telephone number and with an address where we may reach you in the event a position becomes available. In order to remain on the alternate list, you must complete and return the attached form, which must be postmarked by no later than midnight, January 20, 2010. Remember to send updated transcripts as you complete any additional classes.

I got waitlisted last night for OSU. I had 22-22-20 with 3.9+ GPA and in-state. And I go to OSU for undergrad.

I am in the same boat. Waitlisted at UL and IU. It blows especially since they both said how much they wanted me. Hahahaha

Just received an email from Ohio State saying I was placed on the OUT OF STATE waitlist when I am IN State...... I know its probably just a small mistake.... Did it happen to the rest of you???

Being waitlisted is not a bad thing on Dec 1!! Being waitlisted in February...well then you're towards the bottom of the bottom. Just relax. We are all applying to an average of 12 or so schools. One person declines an offer...another one is made...and so on. My friend was waitlisted until the day before school started. Some dude didn't show up for orientation and he got a call to come pick up his orientation packet at 4 pm that day, to start school the very next day! It happens. Pray for the best. (Or the worst for someone else???) :-S

I'd rather be on that list 🙂

I received that same email, then got an email about a hour later saying that there was a mistake. Just received the email saying I was placed on the in state alternate list at Ohio State which is what I should be on. Pretty disappointed right now, but hopefully all ends well, because the anticipation is killing me.

Good LORD! I didn't realize OSU was so prestigious 😱

Tini,
Did you also get a subsequent e-mail from Dr.Kasberg with your position on the waitlist. I got one that says I'm #4.

I spoke with Michele this morning and that pretty much means we are in. They go through this initial OOS list very quickly supposedly. She said expect to hear after the holidays. I started an IU waitlist thread, if you wouldn't mind posting your stuff in there we could keep track of any movement. Congrats on Louisville!

I will be happy to post my info, can't seem to find the thread though. Can you bump it for me?

has anyone seen where the in-state wait list is now? are there any updates for the Ohio State Waitlist?

looks like it has moved one spot... They accepted 65 in state during the first round of acceptances so if your top 10 looks like your guaranteed... I on the other hand am 40th on the waitlist after receiving a 100 on the interview🙄🙄 doesnt make sense to me but whatever.... good luck to everyone waiting

what is the differnce between waitlist and alternate list please?

good luck to all you predents I love a nice smile
