Hello,
I was just browsing the UMDNJ-SOM website and evaluated the first semester schedule.
It included Microbio, genetics, physiology, etc.
My question is, if I already took genetics and microbio at either the comm college or university level would they transfer in or be waived so I would not need to retake them?
Thanks

Are you asking if your undergrad courses in these subjects could be substituted for the med school versions?

I could be wrong on this so don't quote me, but I think when med schools allow people to waive a course it is usually because they have done extensive coursework in that specific area for their Masters or PhD, NOT because they took that same course at another institution.

Might as well go ahead and take physiology at a cc the summer before med school and waive that course...

thats what I was thinking, thanks

He was being sarcastic. No, you cannot waive any medical school courses with courses from an undergrad institution; that's preposterous.

Man, you find the strangest questions on SDN, lol...

thats what I was thinking, thanks

Haha, yeah man, I was being a little sarcastic. In all honesty though, you probably can't waive a course in med school because you took something similar in undergrad. I hear med school courses are quite different from undergrad courses of the same title. Good luck my man/woman.
