I've heard that the military keeps you on a tight daily schedule with an early wake-up time. How early is the wake-up times in any of the three branches?

Might seem kind of like a silly question, but I was just curious.

 This will really only be an issue during your initial entry training, where they will wake you up at 0400 hrs or so, maybe even in the middle of the night to do some pushups. Once you are finished with "boot camp", there won't be any wake-ups. You can get up whenever you want to as long as you make it to work on time. Work will probably start at about 0700 hrs, but may be earlier if you have to do PT in the morning or something. It is very dependent on your command.

This pertains more to my previous experience in the military versus being a military dentist. We, my platoon, had to be in our "platoon hut" no later than 7:15. We then attended "quarters" (roll call) at 7:30 which was immediately followed by PT. This block of the day lasted until 9:30. After which you would then go and do whatever work needed to be done, PMS, prep for training, etc. At 11:30, you would go to lunch. Be back by 1. Continue until 4:30.

I can imagine that the days of being a military dentist would be comparable, minus the amount of time for PT in the morning. Maybe an extended lunch for PT would be more appropriate for the day.

Let's not scare the poor guy. Boot camp is for enlisted soldiers. 🙂

All branches have an officer basic course that they go through which basically is schooling on how to be a military officer, how the military works, and how dentists fir into that branch. During this course, you'll probably be required to go group physical training (PT). If your PT is at 6 AM, then you have to wake up however early it takes you to get ready and get down into the formation. Classes usually go all day till 5.

When you are working in your clinic, hours are usually like normal business hours from 8am-5pm. The only thing that changes is that if you have to do group PT with your unit, in which case you'll have to wake up earlier.
