Does any of this affect pharmacists?

The only Walgreens clinic I’ve seen was for a pharmacy residency site, so it may affect some pharmacists. Largely, though, I think not.

Does any of this affect pharmacists?

Not directly but indirectly as it closes out another avenue for pharmacists to “expand their scope of practice” into in the near-intermediate term. Given the saturated market, I think the majority of pharmacists (retail anyways) are looking for some outlet to better apply their cognitive skills, and the big three I can think of are MTMs, point-of-care testing and medication/refill/insurance concierge in doctor’s offices. Looks like the point of care testing stuff isn’t going to work out. I am not optimistic about the two other avenues either, given that AspenRx is turning out to be a flunk and ROI of pharmacists is too hard to justify for physician offices.

It would affect mid level providers such as NPs and PAs the most as they're the backbone of these in-store clinics. Script count will drop slightly at those stores. From a financial standpoint, since these clinics weren't churning a profit, the move is a smart one. The opening of more Jenny Craig seems a little confusing though.

Doubt it is much of a loss. It wasn't very profitable and patients didn't really likem. They only thing that really prescribed there were antibiotics for just about everything as that's all they really could prescribe there. Heard docs complain about patients with psoriasis, eczema or other skin conditions walking in and walking out with cipro or bactrim and of course, it did absolutely nothing for them.

In my area, a local health care company took over the Walgreens clinics and so, they will stay open.

I never knew Walgreens had a Minute Clinic equivalent. Must have had bad marketing.

Strange Walgreens clinics did so poorly with the CVS Minute Clinics hopping like an Irish Pub on St. Patty's day. In my area, CVS Minute Clinics usually have a wait time of 2-3+ hours after the early morning. CVS is expanding into some primary care disease states over the next couple years and will be renovating a bunch of stores.

CVS is evil but they have clever people who love money

Walgreens is dopey

Really bad if true
