Date of submission: Just finished Junior year, one semester left and am going to apply next June, took almost all pre-reqs (only gen eds remaining) and took DAT early
Overall GPA: 3.92
Science GPA:

Major: Global & Community Health, concentration in Clinical Sciences

Shadowing Experience: 150+ hours shadowing implants, extractions, all-on-X surgeries, bone grafts, root canals, fillings, crowns, bridges, pterygoid implants
Volunteering Experience: 200+ hours volunteering at dental clinic helping with sterilization of rooms before & after patients, seating & dressing patients, assist with periodontal charting, secondary assistant during surgeries & other procedures (get instruments, drop implants, drop donor bone, set up surgical rooms), lab work including staining implant prosthetics, denture assembly, curing, contouring, shaping, and polishing.

LOR type and strength: Got a B in Genetics, that professor is writing a LOR (strong), Either Gen Chem 2 (decent) or Anatomy & Physiology 1 (strong), dentist I shadowed (strong)
Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:
I've been an at-home barber as a hobby since Apr. 2021, cut hair of my friends and family, do myself as well, have videos/pictures to show quality on interview day (VCU specifies to bring any proof of manual dexterity), gave haircuts for prom, hoco, graduation, grad parties, weddings. This can show tremendous manual dexterity, communication, relationship building.
School list:

List was chosen because I ideally want to be close to home, messy family situation requires me to be close enough to return on short notice if need be.

UNC could be challenging. I presume you are considering High Point instead?

Other than that, if your geography is extremely important due to family, this is pretty much the best list you can make unless you grew up in rural Appalachian Virginia (then add WVU).

Yes, I am thinking of High Point as well, but forgot to add it to the list. How competitive do you think I’d be at these schools overall?

I would suspect a decent shot, depending on your writing and strength of letters. I'm just trying to think of any additional privates that may be a bit out of region that could also work for you (get you to 10 programs). Have you thought of any?

Not sure of any privates as of now. What could I focus on in the next year or change/do to improve my chances? Like are there any things hindering my chances of getting in?
