Hello,
I applied ED to my state school (UKCOM) and was wondering what my chances would be.
Breakdown:
1. cGPA: 3.96 sGPA: 3.93 nsGPA: 4.0
2. MCAT cumulative: 510 (first try) (127/128/129/126)
3. I am from Eastern KY
4. I am a white female
5. I am an undergrad at University of KY
6. Clinical experience: 28 hours as a hospital volunteer rounding on patients, and started volunteering at a local clinic as a triager just a couple days ago.
7. Research experience: 300 hours in a biology lab studying health consequences of circadian disruption, attended a conference this past May, and received a grant to do summer research which I'm currently doing.
8. Shadowing experience: 8 hours shadowing a general surgeon, 2 hours shadowing a hospitalist, and around 40 hours shadowing an oncologist
9.Non-clinical volunteering: I volunteer at a local nonprofit that bakes cakes for kids going through poverty (around 20 hours) and tutor genetics and evolution in my school's biology learning center (144 hrs)
10. Other EC's: I am a member of a service fraternity (80 hours). I am a member of my schools chapter of the american medical student association (around 20 hours). I am a member of my school's medical fraternity (70 hrs). I teach a general chemistry workshop course as one of my jobs (240 hours). I work at the library for work-study (236 hours). I also play guitar, piano, and ukulele.
11. Honors and awards: received a leadership award from my service fraternity. Received GSP presidential scholarship. Received a research grant. Received a distinguished member award for AMSA. Made the dean's list.
12. other important factors: I earned an associate in science degree before graduating high school. I am from an underserved region (eastern KY). I do not have any family members who are doctors. I also lost my father this past august so I have been dealing with grief on top of all this.
Please let me know your thoughts!!
