Lab experience is great and would be awesome to get published, good luck! Maybe some more shadowing experience, more diverse experience could help. For example, you could look into shadowing a vet at a shelter, or at an emergency clinic, or even at a leader dog training place. Make sure to research each of those schools to make sure that you'd be able to submit a competitive application given the most recent class profile averages. When I was researching to apply I had to contact all of the admission offices directly to get a clear answer on requirements.

Thank you! I’m currently trying to shadow an equine vet or exotic vet. I’ve been in contact with a few. When you say you had to contact the schools directly, do you mean to see if you had a competitive application based on the recent class profile?

Yeah, like their site would give me a min GPA/hrs but then I'd email them and they'd be like "sure, you can apply as long as you have a 3.0 but we give more consideration to those with XY GPA and at least 3000 hrs..." essentially inferring that they'd probably throw my application in the trash as soon as I hit submit. xD Like they all say they have a "holistic" review process nowadays but I found that to be very false in most cases. So I'd sort of email admissions with my stats, kind of asking a (what are my chances?) and would get a much more realistic answer.
