Hey guys! Here’s my stats. I’d love to hear one thoughts on my odds or what I could improve on if I need to reapply next cycle. I also feel very confident in my essays, as I have an interesting story of undergoing a life-changing spinal surgery when I was younger that has seriously impacted my life.

VMCAS GPA: 3.85
(last 45 will probs be higher, idk science gpa but is probs similar)

Experience:

Vet:
-small animal GP: 150 hours
-equine ambulatory: 50 hours
-emergency & surgery specialty shadow rotation: 60 hours
(I know this is the lowest point of my application. I changed major my sophomore year so I did struggle to get enough hours. If I not get in this cycle I will definitely improve this)

Animal:

-Kennel Technician: 650 hours
-Dog & Cat sitter: 100 hours
-Equine Therapeutic Assistant: 50 hours
-Whelping personal animals: 40 hours
-Personal disabled animal care (administering IV fluids and such): 100 hours
-Cat foster: 140 hours

Activities/clubs:

-Research: 100 hours
-University Orchestra: 7 semesters
-E-sports competition member: 2 years
-Pre-vet club member: 3 years
-Sorority: 1 year

Achievements:

-Presidents list: 2 semesters
-Deans list: 5 semesters
-Science excellence award in high school

Certifications:

-CPR

LOR:

-Equine vet
-Research professor
-Academic advisor (also had as a professor many times)

Applying to:

1. UGA (top school)
2. Virginia-Maryland
3. Mississippi
4. LSU
5. Oklahoma
6. NC State
7. Oregon
8. Florida

Are you IS anywhere? Your grades are great. Vet hours are low. But if your LOR's and essays are strong, then you stand a decent chance this cycle.

That’s encouraging, thank you! I’m in SC (no vet school here), so we have contract seats with Mississippi & Georgia 🙂

I agree with Georgethecat…I do wish you had even more hours as I think that would make you even more competitive but I think you have a fair chance since you’ve got a decent GPA and 260 hours is still a decent number even if on the low side. I could see you getting accepted or maybe getting waitlisted initially but getting pulled off the wait list as it moves in April. If you don’t get in this round though, I’d likely attribute it to the hours and I think you’ll have an excellent chance next time with more hours should you need to reapply.
