I would like assistance with a school list that I made and to trim it down to approximately 30 MD schools and 10 DO schools. I went through every school on the MSAR and specifically looked for schools that had my MCAT within their 10th percentile, and that they said "yes" to the question of whether or not they look at postbacc/SMP coursework if applicant has low uGPA, and relatively OOS friendly (although some schools I have may not be OOS friendly after all). Basically looking for schools that value re-invention and I won't get immediately screened due to obscenely low uGPA.

I greatly appreciate your help! Here's the list:

Have you an upward trend with your Undergraduate GPA? Your SMP looks good!
Connect with LMSA
You must get 50 or more hours of shadowing
Your non clinical volunteering is lacking. You should have at least 150 hours of non clinical volunteering with those in need (speech/debate is noble but you need to get down and dirty).

But you've got time.

I think you've listed some public schools which aren't OOS-friendly, but the experts will chime in, as well as advise re DO schools

Good luck!

Hello! Thank you for your insight!

My uGPA trend is upward up until the last two years, then it kind of plateaus and dips a tiny bit. I'll try to connect with the LMSA! I'm working on getting some shadowing hours in and potential places that need volunteers. As for the public schools that aren't OOS-friendly, I may have used the MSAR too much and interpreted the data incorrectly. I'll take another gander!

Are you fluent in Spanish ? You have many state public schools on your list that admit few non residents with your stats and no connection to the state.

Hello! I’m working on eliminating the public state schools that admit few non residents. Unfortunately, I am not fluent in Spanish.

You should accumulate 50 hours of in person physician shadowing (including primary care and DO) and 150 hours of non clinical volunteering (homeless shelter, food bank, etc,) before you apply. I suggest these schools with your stats:
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
Hackensack
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
George Washington
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth
Wake Forest
NOVA MD
TCU
Creighton
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College Wisconsin
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
California University
Loma Linda (if you fit their mission)
UC Davis
UC Riverside (only if you are from that region)
Any new schools that open in 2024 (there may be several)
Also apply to DO schools and I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
TUNCOM
AZCOM
ATSU (both schools)
KCU-COM
UIWSOM
DMU-COM
CCOM
MU-COM
ACOM
CUSOM
WVSOM
NYITCOM
LECOM
Touro-NY

The MSAR filter for "Out-of-State / Province" is not helpful. For instance, Florida State is quite OOS unfriendly, but MSAR says it accepts OOS applicants.

Use this: AAMC Applicant/Matriculant Data 22-23

Or easier is to use Faha's list!

You're absolutely amazing, thank you!
Regarding UCR -- I am not personally from that region, however I have a lot of family there and also did my SMP in the region. Is that sufficient enough to apply?

Will do! Thank you so much!
