For what it's worth, Ohio has plenty of seats, especially with the Ohio University HCOM program. At the very least, you should attempt them and other DO programs that you feel fit your goals (PCOM, LECOM, etc.). You also have a few Ohio programs that heavily favor in-state applicants from their regions (Toledo, NEOMED, Boonschoft). Your free clinic experience should especially help you there. Nailing the MCAT will open you up to the other, larger in-state programs (tOSU, Cincinnati). Do your networking, build more traditional service orientation hours (food distribution, shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, transportation services, or housing rehabilitation) perhaps through your free clinic connections, and secure solid LORs.
