Hi everyone, new to SDN.

I have quite an unbalanced application and would like to see what everyone here thinks! I know the 507 is the obvious weakness.

Ok/semi-late timing: All secondaries submitted between mid-August and the first week of September
No pre-interview rejections so far, no interview invitations as of today

biochem major, sGPA=cGPA: 3.77
*Note- HUGE gpa dip in 3rd semester, did study abroad in asia to top uni, NOT pass fail, everything was different academically, also different GPA scaling. grades transfered.
Large public university in AZ

MCAT: 502 first attempt (125/124/126/127), immediate retake to 507 (127/128/125/127)
*Note- I indicated I had been recovered from COVID about a week before my first attempt, immense brain fog, most apparent with the CARS 50th to 90th % jump, and I immediately retook.

Clinical experience

Emergency department scribe, rural underserved setting, important to myself/story, southern AZ: 800 hours

911 ambulance EMT in Tucson: about 400 hours

University event EMT: about 370 hours

Hospice dementia volunteer: about 200 hours (Again, important to me and ties w/ research)


Research

- 900 hours in a neurodegeneration laboratory

- Third author on a recently published multi-institutional paper in a neuropathology journal impact factor around 7

- Two poster presentations at state consortium


Nonclinical service- 210 hours

- volunteered abroad
-sports coach
- refugee volunteering
- all have meaning

Shadowing-150 hours

Leadership/other

RA: 300 hrs
Medical instructor to kids: 100 hrs
Intramural sports teams- 300 hrs

4 LOR- all should be very strong!

Welcome to the forums.

ASU only makes sense if you are an engineering major. You should be okay with your U of A schools, but consider the DO in-states as well (ATSU and Midwestern) unless you want to spend more money on a reapplication.

Some of your OOS schools are bad choices. LSUS??? USC Greenville? CMU? VTC? UIC? Marshall? Check those OOS chances and whether you have a strong commitment to live and serve those communities for your early career. (No, really.... why do you want to live where those schools are located?).

IMO, you need more non-clinical service orientation hours for Rush and the Jesuit schools (like Creighton and Loyola). I presume you volunteered abroad while you were studying abroad. For the service schools, we want to see hours in the US in non-clinical social service activities. Rush and Loyola usually want hundreds more hours than what you have listed. Your activities may be meaningful to you, but how are they impactful to the benefitting communities?

Seriously, your experience sounds valuable to other schools in the southwest who work with communities similar to your community EMT work. I'd throw in UNLV. Not sure about Reno's OOS stats. The rest of your list look like stabs in the dark unless you have a very strong mission fit with them and their communities.
