Looking to get some clarity as my school list is 100% top heavy and I could use the reality check.
  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: 3.79/3.75 respectively
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown. Include all (non-voided) attempts: 513 (128/130/127/128)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): US Citizen, OH resident, Born NJ with strong ties
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: ORM
  5. Undergraduate institution or category: Midwest T50
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): 350 Hours as PCNA in ICU, 400 Hours Self-Employed EMT On-Call for club sports
  7. Research experience and productivity: 1,700 hours across 2 labs; 700 Hours in Bioengineering research lab, 2 Posters (1 FA 1 2nd Author) + High Schooler Mentorship Role. 1,000 Hours + 1,000 anticipated in Neuroinflammation/AD/AMD research lab, 1 FA poster + 1 submitted publication as middle author (+PI LoR)
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: 110 hours across IM, PM&R (+LoR), Orthopedic Surgery and Cardiac Anesthesia
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: 500 Hours + 200 Anticipated at Homeless Men's Shelter over 4 years, launched outreach clinic helping residents get access to medical care, over 50 residents served; 100 Hours as Cancer Hospital volunteer; 200 Hours in planning and executing 3 philanthropy events supporting local hospitals
  10. You have all the in-state options. The real reach is Case because your MCAT is quite a bit lower than their median (IMO). Add OUHCOM as your DO backup.

Check your OOS. Illinois is pricey for OOS applicants. Among Chicago schools, drop UChicago. You may be okay but low for Rush and Loyola, but you should add RFUMS/Chicago Med. Do you really know where Virginia Tech Carillion is located? Your chances at the UCalifornia schools will be hard though perhaps your involvement with homeless communities can gather some interest. Why Brown, Buffalo, or Rochester?
