Hi Everyone! I would love some help adjusting my school list and any other advice you have. I am a nontraditional applicant, graduated 2022 and have taken a few gap years to get some meaningful clinical experience and take the MCAT.

1. 3.39cGPA, 3.36sGPA (Upward trend for sGPA)
2. 498, 511 (127,127,128,129)
3. Currently VA (grew up in CA, strong ties there)
4. White Male, 26 years old
5. Undergrad: B.S. in Health Science, Minor in Spanish at a small private school in PA
6. Clinical Experience: 5000 hrs as a Patient Care Coordinator (Pain Management Clinic)
7. Research Experience: N/A
8: Shadowing: 50+ Hours including Pediatrician, Pediatric Oncology, GI
9. Non-Clinical Volunteering: 75+ hours including: tennis coach for children w/ special needs, English as a second language tutor, After school kids program volunteer for low income families in the community
10. Division 3 tennis, Team Captain, working as a Patient Care Coordinator for 2.5 years during gap, got promoted to Lead Patient Care Coordinator

I would love some help refining/adding my MD/DO school list. I am definitely trying to find schools that value clinical experience and not research heavy schools

Your non-clinical volunteering consists of teaching or mentoring, and not much service orientation activity such as food distribution, shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, legal support, transportation services, or housing rehabilitation. You should have 150 hours of service orientation activities or your application might be screened out at most schools.

As a Virginia applicant, your chances are better in-state than to try to go to California unless there is a very strong mission/community fit. Check your OOS chances at the rest of the schools on your list.
