WAMC: Texas

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Have you talked to any admissions recruiters at the Texas schools or participated in TMDSAS Office Hours? We don't know much about your purpose as a physician or any specific geography within Texas that would make you desirable. What feedback have you received from your prehealth advisors?

Yes, a slightly higher MCAT I think can help but holistic review matters. I don't foresee that you would get screened out from the information you provide, but I don't get a sense of your impact on your campus aside from tutoring, so I'm not sure how well you would interact with classmates. In short, I need more to compel me to want to interview you.

Thank you so much for the response! I have not talked to any admission recruiters unfortunately. I'm not from a rural area, nor do I live in east Texas, so my location may not be as appealing. When the health committee reviewed my application, they said everything was good except to just fix my personal statement. I am a member of a pre-medical organization and another organization that's serves underserved communities. Do you have any advice on how to come off as more compelling?
