1 II --> 1 WL, now preparing for reapplication. Wondering if I have a good shot with my current stats. I don't plan on retaking my MCAT, so I tried to maximize other aspects of my application in lieu. I only plan on applying to TMDSAS schools (+TCU) this cycle due to financial constraints.

Info:
- 3.84 cGPA and 3.73 sGPA
- MCAT: 507 (128/125/127/127)
- Nigerian TX Resident
- T-30 undergrad, Ranked #1 in state
- A little over 3000 clinical hours, mostly in behavioral and maternal health
- 160 research hours + presentation (public health
- 170 shadowing hours (all psychiatry but 1 subspecializes in perinatal psychiatry)
- 550 volunteer hours spread across food pantries, introducing middle school kids to science/research through demos, visual assistance for the blind)
- A good bit of mentorship experience through organizations, also drafted university legislation to establish a transfer student-buddy program.

With a MCAT of 507 it is not a good application strategy to apply only to TMDSAS MD schools. You should include the TMDSAS DO schools. I suggest adding these OOS MD schools to your application:

Meharry
Morehouse
Charles Drew
Xavier Ochsner (when it opens)
Roseman
Alice Walton
Belmont
Methodist
If have no interview by November then apply to DO schools also and I suggest these:
UIWSOM
OSU-COM
AZCOM
CCOM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
CUSOM
VCOM (all schools)
Touro-NY
NYITCOM
PCOM ( all schools)

I intend on applying to all TMDSAS schools including the DO schools. I applied to a good chunk of those OOS schools last cycle and didn’t get a single interview so I’m not sure if it’s worth the financial investment again 🫤

I suspect your clinical experience needs more variety, based on what you have shared. I suggest something more in the general medicine realm (internal med, family med, ER). You have lots of psych and mental health, but those clerkships are very short for most med school required rotations.

A portion of my clinical experiences include my time scribing for an OB as well as volunteering in a maternal health program so hopefully that provides more diversity!
