Hi all! URM Black male, SES disadvantaged,
-US citizen but did an undergrad in Canada(Wilfrid Laurier University), , no current US state residency but strong ties to california as it’s my birth state

Very sad not sure whether to even apply anymore after receiving a 497 on my second MCAT in a row (125/123/124/125). ccGPA 3.9, sGPA 3.8. I know my chances are pretty low if not none for MD, but any suggestions for maybe DO?. Is it worth it to even apply, I also need some school recommendations or general advice

You could receive interviews at some MD schools and I suggest these:
Howard
Meharry
Morehouse
Charles Drew
Wayne State
For DO schools I suggest these:
UIWSOM
VCOM (all 4 schools)
WCU-COM
ACOM
PCOM (all schools)
LECOM (all schools)
LMU-DCOM (all schools)
BCOM (both schools)
BUCOM
OCOM
WVSOM
UP-KYCOM
DUQCOM
KHSC-COM
KCU-COM
MU-COM
Noorda-COM
TUNCOM
NYIT-AR
ARCOM
Most of these schools have MCAT medians in the 498 to 502 range so you should receive interviews.
Apply this month and submit all your secondaries by July.

Have you contacted the SNMA or student officers at the schools on your list? Are you part of any mentoring organizations supporting aspiring Black (male) physicians? Where in California did you grow up?

Thank you so much, quick question i was going through some of msar stats and the MCAT median for wayne state seems to be quite high at 513, it it still worth it to apply there. Also I heard meharry is going through accreditation issues, any knowledge about that? @Faha

Wayne State 10th percentile is 505 for non residents. However, your GPA of 3.9 is competitive. Wayne State is in Detroit which has a 80% Black population and they do look for URM applicants.

Thank you i will make sure to apply. Also concerning morehouse i saw the screening mcat on msar was a 498 and i have a 497 unluckily. Is there still a point to apply or do i risk getting screened out @Faha

ok i will apply there thank you. i was just worried about getting screened out cause i wasnt sure if the stated msar screening of 498 would automatically screen me out, thereby wasting an app. @Faha
