I don't think I have the stats for md/phd but I would love to still apply to those programs if I have the money to do so.

Ties to other States/Regions: Florida, maryland, DC

URM? Yes

Year in School: Gap years; graduated undergrad in 2016

Undergraduate Major(s)/Minor(s): Psychology, Neuroscience minor in linguistics Public state undergrad

Graduate Degrees (if applicable): Masters Biopsychology (3.75 half of the courses in hard science)

Cumulative GPA: 3.18 not a clear upward trend. 3.18 is including postbacc (pre postbac GPA 3.10) I have over 185 credit hours of undergraduate work (yay for changing my major so many times and just taking classes because they were interesting and free to take)

Science GPA: 3.20

MCAT Score(s): 512 (want to retake if I can in july)

Research Experience: >10,000hrs neuroscience research, 3 undergraduate semesters of research in a psych lab. I am thinking of applying MD/PHD to some schools that offer it. I am really interested in research, but I don't want to pursue neuroscience research anymore.

Publications/Abstracts/Posters (include how you were credited e.g. first author, second author, etc.): one pub, not first author. There were like15 authors and I'm not first, second, or last. But it's in Cell so I guess it's something.

Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer): Medical assistant ~400 hrs over 6 months , volunteering at free clinic 400 hrs over 3 years until pandemic closed clinic, brain injury rehab center~ 2100hrs over 1.75 years

Physician Shadowing: 35 hrs internal med, 60hrs family med, 10 hr optho

Non-Clinical Volunteering: 55hrs teaching English to immigrants for 1 year, mentor program hours 150 over 9 months (this is ongoing), group leader for NICU parents group therapy 35 hrs (ongoing),120hrs on board of directors of international program-DEI board member (ongoing), I know my volunteering hours are way low. I will try to get more before app season

Other Extracurricular Activities: things I have done but I only have 15 slots and wont be able to fit them all in AMCAS, but can in AACOMAS I think: TA for anatomy course 1 semester, sign language club president in undergrad 1 academic year, tutor for children with autism 6 months, 3 awards/scholarships won that fully covered undergrad years, book club- 4 years, women's coding club 3 years

Other Employment History: cashier for 4.5 yrs ~5,200, housekeeper at small hotel ~ 350hrs, uber driver ~200 hrs

Immediate family members in medicine? (Y/N): N

Specialty of Interest (if applicable): family med or OBGYN

Interest in Primary Care (Y/N): Y

Interest in Rural Health (Y/N): not sure yet

Red Flags: IA freshman year for low GPA, Ds and Fs in intro bio classes and 1 intro chem class. retook those classes for better grade but school/transcript only shows course repeated for pass, not that I got As in these classes when I retook them. I'm not a strong essay writer just in general.

Medical School List: not sure on this list as I think I may need to bring up my GPA more before even thinking of applying but here goes: VCU, VA Tech, EVMS, UVA (these are all in my state), FSU, FIU, UMiami, USF, Drexel, Meharry, Howard, Goergetown (I know I know, but it's near where I live), George washington, Oakland U, Loma Linda (I went to religious schooling for grad school and I would be open to keeping that trend in med school), Wayne state, ETSU, tufts, dartmouth, quinnipiac, Temple, LUCOM, VCOM, ATSU, RVUCOM, LECOM-florida & penn, PCOM, TouroCOM, PNW, western michigan, boston, rush, Rosy F, jefferson, pittsburg, ohio state,I'm not sure what other schools to put because my GPA and MCAT are very low

Here is the MD/PhD Physician Scientist Forum link: Physician Scientists .

I think your more recent GPA will be helpful to your cause though I don't know how I can translate that master's GPA offhand. You can ask the moderators there or skim through the profiles of current applicants there.

You should look into schools that only consider your most recent ~30 hours of coursework. I have a post in my signature offering advice previously to reinventors/non-trads. Schools like LSU drop all of your transcript other than your most recent 30 hours if you meet criteria, which you may.

You can probably drop schools like GW, OSU, Boston, Temple, Tufts, etc. Your MCAT is not that low but your GPA is pretty much a nonstarter.

I'd focus on DO schools in your area and HBCUs.
