I thought I'd throw this out there for the new MS3's.

No matter how tempting, and no matter how hot she is... her colleagues WILL know about it, they WILL judge you for overstepping your "boundries," and when the fling ends, your life and more importantly, your evals, WILL become hell.

No, it isn't right that residents evaluate you based on your love life. But then again, resident evals usually are never fair anyway.

Learn from my mistakes. :scared:

Thanks for the advice but I got it covered.

FYI, if there's interest on the resident side, then as a medical student you're pretty much damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Personally, I never did, because if I'm going to get a bad grade I don't deserve, I'd rather get it for behaving ethically.

you gotta learn how to eat vagina like a champ.

FAIL.👎

My advice is to just stick to the safer option: sleeping with your patients.

unless you slept with a girl who is coyote ugly, i think you should feel slightly epic that you as an MS3 got with an resident.

Yeah I don't believe that sleeping with a resident would be all that bad for your evaluations. I personally would be impressed and find it mildly to moderately humorous when I heard the story and would probably be more likely to view you in a positive light after hearing it. I don't think that graduating medical school and becoming a resident is going to completely change who I am and make me an uptight douche, so I'm pretty sure that as a resident I would still find the story entertaining and enjoy hearing it. So I'm not sure why all the residents would all of a sudden give you bad evals. Perhaps if you did something mean to her when the relationship ended? Anyway, bottom line is game recognize game so if they are mad at you, they are probably just hatin on you cause they wish it was them. Just gotta shake that off if you a tru playa.

This was one of the more entertaining stories I've heard, which a resident told me this year:

A few years back, a surgery resident was sleeping with a med student whose boyfriend was also a med student. She used to send him dirty text pages going into detail what she wanted to do to him. Well, the resident was in the OR one day when his pager went off, and he told the med student to read it out loud since he was scrubbed in. The med student looked at it and asked "are you sure?" and was told to read it. It, of course, turned out to be a very explicit page from the med student, read in front of the attending and others in the room...the resident got in trouble, and her bf found out from the student that read it and dumped her.

So I guess the moral of the story is sleep with your resident, just don't page them about it.

A big AMEN to that one. Not that I would ever do such a thing....ahem, but it is safer.

Considering most of my patients look like this,

PASS.

(I'd give the dog the edge here. Err, I'm going to stop talking now.)

*******, if you had videotaped it in the first place, you could have blackmailed her into not telling anyone. Then you would have been golden. Hell, you probably could have gotten a little backdoor action out of it.

perhaps the backdoor action is the boundary that he overstepped!

How come hot male residents in hospitals never hit on me?

Coming from a resident this is hilarious!

Considering my patients look like this, I'll stick with the residents! Or my husband... 🙄

Although rumor is, one of the attending clinicians is known for his amorous ways with the third/fourth years and the interns and residents... 😱

sleep with your intern, lose your reputation

sleep with a nurse, lose half your income after the divorce

sleep with a patient, consider practicing in the carribean--probably don't need a liscense there
