I submitted my app on June 1st but I didn't take the DAT until end of July, my application complete emails were coming in at the end of August. Am I late? I have 3.3 oGPA, 3.0 science, 19 AA, 19 TS. I have received one interview so far. I have not contacted any schools by phone, is it recommended or not liked to call and ask about the status of your application?

Timeline is fine. Bigger issue is the (relatively) low DAT scores for your 3.0 sGPA

you're not too late but your sGPA is very low, that maybe the reason. You can call and ask but that may not do much, just try to be patient and nail any interviews you have had. IF you dont get in this year, you might think about retaking the DAT to improve or taking a Masters program to boost the low sGPA.

You weren't too late. I have heard multiple admissions directors say that it is ok to take the DAT till about mid-September as long as you apply early.

My advice (as a re-applicant) is to study hard for the DAT now and possibly retake it at the end of this year if you don't get accepted yet. I played the waiting game last year, thinking that my DAT scores were sufficient for at least one of the schools to take me in, but it nipped me in the butt and now I'm a year behind schedule!

I just wish that I would have understood the true importance of taking the DAT again! Start studying hard for it now just in case!

Like everyone said, you weren't late. Its your GPA that's bringing you down. Hope for the best for that one interview you've got and see if you'll get in this time around. But if you don't, then you'll need to improve that GPA for next cycle. You have a very good chance of getting in with that one interview though. It only takes one shot. The ball is in your court. Keep your hopes high.

I also go my application complete around the end of august from the schools, and only received 1 interview so far and no other notifications. Whats holding me back is most likely my 16 in reading...

I do think timing plays a role.

My time-line is very similar to yours and my stats are a little higher. I have received 2 interviews thus far.

My guess is that they are interviewing all of the early applicants with high stats first and then going back to interview everyone else to fill the class. Wait until after January. Hopefully both you and I will hear back from more schools :xf:

I am scared now. My plan at the moment is to take the DAT late July/early August but I will definitely submit everything June 1st (will just need DAT scores to complete application). Do you guys think that this is a good plan?

I took my DAT on Aug 9th. I wish I would have taken it earlier but at the same time I'm glad I took more time to study. I have a couple of interviews and 1 of them is even pre-December. I think I could have gotten more interviews by now if I would have taken my DAT earlier, but who knows if would be the case if I got a lower DAT score...

I don't think it's anything to be scared of, just something to think about. The DAT material isn't hard - just A LOT to study for.

Good luck

Maybe this will give perspective.

I took my DAT on August 16th. File was complete, September 6th.

I've had 3 interviews and a 4th is planned. All pre-dec.

The biggest "issue" with your info is the relatively low DAT score which is coupled to a low sgpa.

Your timing is fine, DAT is average and GPA is a little low. I would recommend re-taking the DAT, and rocking it.

It's not your timing, it's your DAT and sGPA. Mine was complete on 9/9 and I've had 2 interviews with another one scheduled in Jan. My sGPA is 3.9 and DAT is 23 AA/ 23 TS. The rest of my interviews will probably be post-Dec though.

For pre-Dec interviews you'll need to take DAT by mid July. Late July will be pushing it. It takes schools 2 weeks to receive DAT scores and since the AADSAS mailing dates are every Friday, it's best to take exam by Wed. of the week. Most schools start reviewing apps in Aug.

For post-Dec interviews, your timing of late July/early Aug is fine. Actually late Aug is fine too.

But, most schools fill up a good chunk of their class (40-50% for many schools) with post-Dec interviews. More important thing is to score high on DAT. No need to compromise because in the end, it's the high stats that will ultimately score interviews.

So it's up to you on what's more important: pre-Dec or post-Dec interviews. My priority would be DAT.

Not at all. My application was mailed on September 2 (took the DAT on August 12), and I received 2 pre-December interviews and 1 rejection so far. I think it all depends on the school. Some schools notify your result (interview or rejection) within a few weeks upon receiving your application, while others wait until the end of each cycle (following summer) to notify your rejection.

Thanks guys, do you think I still stand a chance for post-Dec interviews? And is it too late for this cycle to retake the DAT?

A lot of schools will be conducting interviews for several months. The first round of acceptances go out on Dec. 1st. From there, an accepted applicant has 45 days to make the initial deposit ($1000-2000). After this date, the schools have a better idea of how many seats they have to fill and invite more applicants for interviews based on these numbers.

I think you still have a shot.

As far as the DAT - someone correct me if I'm wrong - I think the latest date to submit a DAT score for this cycle is in December?
I don't remember for certain but it says somewhere on the AADSAS website/ application portal.
