😕 I have acceptances to Washington and Colorado.... I'm completely torn and have one week to make a decision. Any advice/observations at either of these?? I'm OOS at both, so tuition is comparable.

Congrats on your acceptances, I would probably go with Washington, they have a larger endowment, and more graduate programs, I think they are a more prestigious school as well.

I've never seen Colorado...
...But I've seen UW! Go to UW! Obviously I'm biased. 😀

Congrats on your great acceptances!! You are very lucky to get an OOS seat at UW. 👍 I don't think you can go wrong with either school. UW is definitely a little more prestigious but does that really matter?

Are you looking to specialize? Colorado isn't very well known for placing people into specialties... But you can't beat the Rocky mountains!

Good luck on your tough decision!

lol....more prestigous? Comparing dental schools is a hard thing to do...Many will say Harvard/Penn yada yada are the best because they are Ivy League...I would put a UW or Colorado guy against them any day. Take the "prestige" out of the question.... Both have reputable faculty and great clinical training. This choice to me is based on lifestyle, Washington and Colorado are both great places to live....Washington has better looking girls (guys?) and Colorado has better skiing... you will be well trained at either. Ive lived in Denver before and it is an amazing city, very clean and fun...cant speak of washington though. I do believe that Washington puts out more specialists but this is more of a class mentality thing then a training thing....the kids at Colorado could specialize if they want to, they CHOOSE not to. Congrats on your achievement none-the-less, well done.

This is an easy decision in my mind. You go to UW! Colorado sucks (the state) I personally can't stand the people at CU either. UW on the other hand is an amazing campus. Love the city, love the state, and people there are always nice. There are alot of factors that go into this decision but i believe UW would be more enjoyable because there are things to do outside of school. Seattle is amazing, and boulder is boring. That's just my opinion, if you don't like it disregard it, but I am just being straightforward. I'm not going to waste your time saying here are the pros and cons. Ultimately the decision is yours, and I wish you the best in your decision!

Good luck 🙂

Colorado is in Denver in its own separate campus (Anschutz).

Congrats bro on multiple acceptances. What fits you might not fit someone else. I've made pro/con lists and looked back at my notes I took during my interview. Good luck.

I am in similar situation n had to decide between UW, Colorado n Baylor. I chose mother Baylor! I didn't go to UW because I have heard about people getting seasonal disorders after they move to Seattle. I am from the Southwest and cannot live without the sun. However, would love to go to Seattle in future for vacation!

Colorado is increasing its class size by 35 students. This is being done without expanding the existing infrastructure. UC - Denver has the best facilities after UoP but this expansion didn't make me comfortable choosing Colorado!

Good luck on your decision!👍

^ not true, CU is adding/finishing off another floor that will serve as additional clinic/pre-clinic. I would say out of the schools I interviewed at Colorado had the best facilities, and a really down to earth faculty. Also living is relatively cheap.

Actually, they are increasing the size of the facilities at Colorado. It has been planned for quite sometime. I think they will start construction sometime next month.

I haven't seen UoP, but if you're saying the infrastructure is better than Colorado's, then they must be amazing! Especially since Colorado's campus is very beautiful.

I'll throw in my 2 cents for UW:

Great faculty that work hard to make sure you learn and succeed. Although they no longer release each school's scores for NBDE I and II, they release whether the school is above average or below average and UW is consistently above average for board scores. The clinical education at UW is very good and some classes are taught at a post-graduate level to provide a more thorough education. Since each class is only 55 (+8 in the RIDE program), the students are pretty close. Also, the class as a whole is very good at helping each other out so that we all succeed. If you have more questions about UWSOD you can PM me...

Colorado does have beautiful facilities but in no way is it cheap to live there!! Denver has a very high cost of living. The school is also in a bad part of town... Very run down near the school. But you can go about 15 miles away and its much nicer but lots of money!

Thanks everyone for your input! I really appreciate it. Ended up choosing Washington. Now the hard part really begins...

You are contradicting yourself, it is not in the best area of Denver and that is why the rent is cheap. The price of rent, like anything is relative, but from the areas I am considering going to school (San Francisco, Boston, LA, Philly) it is most definitely cheap.
