Washington State University Class of 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats! Is WSU your top school? Do you think you will go there or somewhere else? Thanks for the interview tips, btw...I will use them next year hopefully since it appears I will not be getting my interview this year 🙁

Don't give up just yet until it's really over; the process is ongoing still. Not quite the top choice, but glad I am accepted to have more options. I am still waiting for other schools and I am out of state btw. Don't lose hope yet. BEst of luck.:xf:

I just got a call yesterday asking me to come for an interview. I will decline because I have already been accepted to my first choice. Maybe you will get my interview spot!!!

yesterday. when did you interview?

Hi Guys,

I read on WSU's website that acceptance and denial letters will be sent out the 2nd week of March. Does anyone know if most acceptance letters are sent out earlier or are those that have already received acceptance letters unique/stand outs?

Thanks!!

I'm curious too. I interviewd Feb. 12th and still have not heard back. I thought that the letters would be sent out around the same time.

Hello, Hello:

Just trying to figure out if WSU has a specific way of accepting people (I will apply again next year 🙁 and want to learn as much as possible now!). For everyone that has been accepted thus far, CONGRATS!!! Will each of you let us know if you are from out of state or Washington? This would be greatly appreciated and may explain a process that WSU goes through when sending out acceptance letters.

THANKS and again, CONGRATS to everyone that has been accepted so far!👍

Hi Mariahz,

Congrats on at least getting an interview! Do you mind sharing your stats? Are you from out of state?

Hi Liss,
Thank you, I live in WA. I have a GPA of 3.2 😳 (not good I know), but I am juggling working full time and have 2 little ones at home. I've also been a pharmacy technician for 10 years.

Care to share your stats also?

Hi Mariah,

You are busy! I have a 3.3 from UW am from Washington and have about a year of pharm tech experience. But again, I didn't get an interview =(. I was just wondering regarding out of state especially as it seems that most posting they have been accepted might be from out of state (at least on SDN which doesn't seem to be a lot of people for WSU)?

I am crossing my fingers for you girl!! Good luck:xf:

Thank you again. Don't give up, it sounds like they are still calling/emailing people for interviews, also alot of the people on here that have been accepted are declining.

Have you applied to UW?

I will think good thoughts for you as well. Good Luck!

Hi Mariahz!
You have great experience.

Hi Jaime,

Thank you, we will see if that convinces them to give me a spot! 😉

Good luck to ya!

Hi Mariahz!
I think they will have to give you a spot because you are great candidate. I don't see anyone that I know who has that much of experience. You can see that on the website there are people who have seven years of experience. They said these are very competitive applicant. So I think that you just wait to get accepted letter.

It seems to me, through careful analysis, that this school looks highly on work experience as many people here have had several years.

I haven't had a paid work experience, but I suppose even my state license and the fact that I'm PTCB certified doesn't convince them enough that I know what pharmacy is about.

I explaiend to them that I took a full year out to enroll in pharmacy technician courses so I know a lot about the profession but seems like what I said went through unanswered.

😕

how's everyones expereince with teresa woolverton? I might have to call her to ask her why I'm not invited but the website said to limit emails/calls to two.

Hello DrugsRUsRUs,

I've emailed Ms. Woolverton several times about various things and she has always been very nice and helpful with my questions. I met her when I went to the interview and she is just as nice in person. Don't hesitate to email her with your questions.

Hi guys!

I know waiting sucks! But for those still waiting for an interviews, don't lose hope yet! Our last interview date is this friday 3/12.

Good luck to all!

Hi tk1tpod,

Thanks for the info/insight! Do you know if WSU added interview dates? I thought they only did about 6 weeks of interview and it seems that 3/12 would be about 8 weeks plus of interviewing. Are they having a hard time this year getting the right pool of candidates?

Go Cougs!!😀

Are they still conducting interview this Friday? I think that they might not send anything yet.

I had a late interview, and one of the papers they gave me afterwards said that you could hear from them anytime up until Mid-April (although the secretary said it would probably be late March).

can anyone clarify when the very last interview date is?
also how long in advance do they notify you of an invitation?

I've visited WSU 3 years ago and was looking forward to someday coming back as an interviewee but looks like this isn't going to happen.

I have the stats and everything and they don't look at the PCat score and I already finished ALL my prereqs and have a BS degree and tech license and PTCB certified and lots of EC activities. I don't know what else they are looking for or what I can do to improve my application.

has anyone here been invited but has not had working experience at a pharmacy other than volunteer?

Hi Drug!
It seems like you have everything that they need. However, I have the same question, too. What I have heard so far from friends who had interviews. They most are Washington state resident, and they also have average GPA around 3.5 to 3.4 at least.

i was accepted a few weeks ago....i'm out of state, have about 4 years tech experience, 3 years research lab experience, a few years hospital experience, and a ton of other ECs including volunteering abroad in a third world country. also have a decent gpa.

WSU is a nice school, but I was luckily accepted to my number one choice...

goodluck to everyone 👍

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today! I interviewed on 2/5/10. Good luck to those interviewing this weekend!

Hi KSforlife,

Congrats on being accepted to multiple schools, WOW! I am trying to figure out how many seats are available at WSU. Did you commit to WSU or forgo your spot?

Thanks and congrats again!👍

Thanks Maria...still haven't heard anything. No worries, there's always next year! I did not apply to UW this year as I did not take the PCAT.

Have you heard anything more from WSU? A couple of my friends are waiting that had interviews.

No nothing yet and it's torture. I don't understand why they would send out a few at a time while they are still interviewing.

yup, waiting is truly agonizing. BTW, do you guys know if WSU would take online classes for prereqs?

Thanks LissBliss. I'm going to be staying in San Diego so I am relinquishing my spot at WSU. Hopefully one of you gets it. Good luck on the rest of your applications.

Pharmsomething,

I have taken many online classes and am now taking their online biochemistry class. I certainly hope they accept online classes. I didn't get any complaints from them when I sent in my app. and transcripts.

I see, but are any of those classes with labs? (like anatomy) Anyways, did anyone get letters yet?

Has anyone else received interview calls/e-mails to schedule an interview? Anyone new been accepted/denied?

One of my friends from the state of Washington was accepted a week or so ago via mail and she doesn't obsess/pay attention to SDN like I do so I thought I would update you all on that. She interviewed Feb. 5 I think, had decent stats (3.5-ish undergrad), about 3 years of tech experience but I was surprised she got an interview and I didn't 🙁. I haven't received my 'official' denial letter but haven't received an offer for an interview either.

Thanks!

I interviewed March 5, and I literally just opened up my acceptance letter a few minutes ago! 🙂 I'm ridiculously excited!

They are not inviting anymore people for interview.
I called and Teresa said she will be mailing out rejection letters.

But we can call to ask why we are rejected so that might help if you are planning on applying here next year.

good luck to all who will be attending here or those still waitiing on acceptances.

So are the rejection letters going out this week and the acceptance letters have already been mailed? 😕 I called last week and all she said was that letters would be mailed this week.

Thank you!

I'm an in state student.
3.6 GPA
I've had experience in a hospital outpatient pharmacy as well as several retail pharmacies as a volunteer/job shadowing.

Those certainly aren't phenomenal stats by any means, but I do happen to know that they really liked my goals statements, and my interview went really well. So I'm sure that helped me out a bit 🙂

Good Luck Mariah! I have confidence that you will get an acceptance letter and am sending positive vibes your way🙂.

Anybody receive letters yet? I thought letters were supposed to be sent out the 2nd week of March.

I interviewed 2/26, btw..

I'm starting to think my letter got lost? And I know you only have 2 wks to accept admissions.

I believe they are behind with the letters so it isnt just you. They have been telling my friends that where interviewing to expect to hear back the week after our spring break(next week) and have even heard some say april. Kind of unfare to delay the mailings without some notice....the wait is very nerve wracking, especially since I interviewed on Feb 12. Makes me second guess how well I thought the interview went.

Hello everyone! WSU is in the process of sending out the letter. Be patient. I just got my acceptance letter today. So yeah!
