Washington State University Class of 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sorry, don't know the answer to that question... I sent out my transcripts and immunization form also.

There's no group anywhere online for WSU Pharmacy C/O 2014, is there? 🙂

Don't think so. Anyone create a group on facebook yet?

hey guys, when u say the immunization form, do you guys mean the measles form?

Question -- you know how they want us to start our Hep B vaccinations (3-shot series) ASAP! Well, I already got mine when I was little. I confirmed with someone from the WSU office and they said that if I had it once, even though it was 10+ years ago, it's OK... I'm in a safe situation, right? My MD said Hep B series never expires. I do also have a blood test showing that I have antibodies to Hep B.

I hope I got the right information from the MD and office! Not passing one of my spring classes sounds scary.

So where is the majority of WSU Fall 2010 students planning to house? I'm from out-of-state and am trying to gather all the information about WSU and the area that I can get, since I won't get to visit the campus prior. 🙂

I planning on housing here. It's not too far from school and the school bus stop is near the apartment and you get free parking (unless you want the shaded parking spots). Price isn't expensive compare to CA. 👍

My friend is a P1 there, so I will be dorming with them in 3 bedroom apartment next year but I will have to find some other place to live when they start their 3rd year in Spokane.🙁

Are you also from CA?

To Vanishel, doesn't the measles form requires a wsu ID in order for it to be processed, or did you guys just leave it blank? Anyhow, it's cool that you know a P1 there already...it's a pain to be out of state and trying to get an apartment.

So...anyone here want to share an apt? If you guys pm me, we can facebook each other.

It depends -- you had several options with the MMR form. I just sent a copy of my MMR immunization record in.

Acceptable documentation is (copies only, please keep your originals):
1. School Certificate of Immunization, or
2. Official immunization records from your health care provider or public health department, or
3. Copy of your immunization card, or
4. Copy of your military immunization record, or
5. This form completed and signed by your health care provider. (

**no WSU ID required!

I emailed Teresa about finding roommates...she forwarded my email to a student ambassador, but I haven't heard anything back yet. Apparently they do help you find people to live with though. I just made a facebook group, it's called Washington State University College of Pharmacy Class of 2014. Look for it and join! 🙂

Yeah! This forum is active again. I need to find a place to stay at WSU too.

Wow! I'm impressed someone has already got this forum up and running. Congradulations to everyone that was accepted-happy to be here.

@PA Required
Your user name is GENIUS! I almost died laughing when I came across it. I was thinking of using PA DENIED but I didn't want to step on your turf 😉

Glad to see this forum is active again! for those who are new here, i'm a current PY1, from CA.

hope you're looking forward to orientation! we're already starting the preparations. during orientation, you'll meet the staff/profs, learn more about the pharmacy program and its requirements, take your id pictures, have your immunization sheets checked off, and be introduced to the 2 pharmacy student organizations. it'll be a whole day thing with lunch (which i remember being really good) and it'll give you guys the opportunity to meet each other and some of the PY2s. We all share the same computer lab/lounge/building/profs/activities/clubs, and we'll also be your lab TAs so we'll be seeing plenty of each other each day. 🙂

I'm currently a P2 student!

I see many questions about where to live:

I highly recommend you guys living in Maple Valley. It's nice and very convenient location for using the bus system which is included with your tuition so all you have to do is show your student ID to ride. You can take Express 1 or 2 to school. The bus comes every 7-8 minutes.

Another place I recommend is Summer Hill apartment. Many of my classmates live here as well. http://www.hillapts.com/html/summerhill.html

Let me know if any of u have any questions, you can message me and I'll try to help! 🙂

What about Emerald Downs? I dont think I will have a car, so I will highly appreciate being near coffee shops, grocery, etc. etc. Emerald Downs is also under Dabco Mgmt, but is there anything I need to know about being slightly more towards the middle of the WSU, vs. Maple Valley which is much north of WSU?

Hello Guys! Congratulations! All the accepted folks have accomplished something remarkable, it might not feel so, but getting into Pharmacy School is quite hard. For those who did not hear back, don't give up. They like persistence.
I'm a 3rd year student getting ready to start rotations, and I will try to give some advices that might be pertinent to those who aren't familiar with the area (Pullman).

Living wise, try to go with Summerhills apartments(Company name, but they run multiple apartments complexes...Meadow brooks...etc etc.) They are not extremely nice apartments, but they are honest people. If you take decent care of the place, you will get all your deposits back. Moreover, it is right next to the Zuu, where they have 3$ wings on wednesdays, those are always fun 🙂. Even better, you are among the first ones to get picked up at a bus stop. If you live lower in the lower part (Church hill downs, Emeralds downs) most likely, you will have to walk to school when it snows hard, as you will be the last ones to get picked up in that bus loop.
I have a problem with (Church hill downs, Emeralds downs...etc) and anything that are operate by Dabco Management. The apartments are nicer, but even if you are a neat freak, chances of getting your full deposit back are slim.( They require you to take down the curtains and professionally dry clean it...it's bullsh*t, really).
WSU College of Pharmacy is a really great program. The professors are the best that I've encountered in my lifetime (I went to the University of Washington as an undergrad, and I never once spoke to any professors...probably because I was busy sleeping). They are extremely knowledgeable and down to earth, as you will find that most of them care about your learning, and likely view you as colleagues, rather than students. On that note, contribute as much as you can, learn as much as you can, get involve in organizations and advance the profession.
I know it's lengthy and vague in a sense, but ask any questions that you may have. Again, congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Those that were accepted should have received a PDF file with helpful information for housing. If you didn't PM me and I will get it taken care of..

I'll leave you all with a quote

"I can't define it; I can't tell somebody who isn't a Cougar what it's like. There's something that happens at Washington State, you quietly and subtly become infected. There are very few people I've ever met who have gone to WSU and not come away with a favorable impression ... Washington State was a passion. Being a Cougar was a passion."

I won't have a car either, so I was going to rent a 1BD at Emerald Downs too...since that area is more convenient, and the apartments are nicer...but decided to go with Maple Valley last minute because I didn't want to risk not getting on the bus in the morning, especially when it snows...plus it's $20 cheaper! For some reason, Maple Valley seems to be popular among the pharmacy students...If you're planning to move in August, they only have 2 more 1BD units available for Maple Valley!!

Good choice! It's a lot more quiet out in Maple Valley and you have better chance of not being skipped by the bus!

It seems that there is still hope for those that are waitlisted.

According to this, only 84 students are enrolled: http://www.schedules.wsu.edu/Schedu...X00&RK11=3&RK01=2010&RK02=3&RK04=P&RK05=PharD

That leaves about 10 spots left that are possibly open on Orientation day, Aug 18th.

Good luck to those still waiting 🙂

For anyone who is already in town, please message me and maybe we can meet up a bit early!

Are you at Pullman now? I'll be there on August 16th.

Hello everyone,
I've got an interview for WSU next week. This is my first interview in the U.S.
Can anyone help me about how they will interview me and what essay's question is about?

lili79 congrats on your interview invite!

Are you interviewing in Pullman or Spokane?
