I don't know if you guys search the pre-allo forum at all, but there's usually about one thread a week talking about how WashU is overrated, is a numbers *****, etc. I'm probably going to start there next year, and I wanted to hear the opinions of people who have actually attended the school (rather than the opinion of premed students who are applying or have been rejected). To those of you at WashU, what are your thoughts about the school? Have you been happy with your time there? Do you feel prepared for clinical medicine?

WashU is a great school. But its still a numbers ***** and its still overrated. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

wash u is an amazing school and i am really happy to be here. i have read some of the pre-allo threads and i completely disagree with all those who think it "overrated." here's the deal: wash u offers a lot of scholarships, has a great MSTP program, and is full of amazing students so naturally wonderful students are attracted here. We don't have a lot of people coming here just for the name that other top schools have, instead we have people who genuinely want to be here. My classmates are all incredible people: musicians, scientists, teachers, activists, and athletes. the administration could not be more supportive and elicit our feedback all the time, they practically beg for it. if you liked the school when you visited, thought the students were up your ally, then you'd probably like it here. st. louis is actually a great place to live and i'd even like to stay here for residency (our children's hospital kicks ass). as for clinical training, i'm a second year so i'll have to let you know.

take the forums with a grain of sodium chloride.
there's definetly a bias towards some schools...... reading some of these posts on here would make one think that UCSD is like a concentration camp and other such nonsense.

washU is good and if you like it then just go with your gut feeling.
