So, the basic consensus seems to be that Wayne interviews based on MCAT score. Last I heard they had been interviewing people with 29s. Does anyone know if they are still on 29, or have they gone lower? I have a 29 and am trying to figure out where I stand. Thanks!

I didnt know they were interviewing by MCAT...
I ask this since I sent in my app late got the secondary recently, and will be sending it by the end of the week. I have a 32R, does that mean that I have a good chance at an interview?

I've heard that they definitely do more or less prioritze their interviews by MCAT score. I read a thread a while ago that was talking about how they had started to interview people with 29s, but I can't find it! With a 32, you should be great Dr. Curious. Are you in-state or oos?

I am out of state too, with a 31 MCAT. I applied the day before the deadline, and recieved a secondary, which I have yet to send out. Do you know if they heavily screen between primary and secondary? Are you in good shape if they request a secondary?

if you get a secondary, you're pretty much invited for an interview. and then once you make it to the interview, you have 50% of getting in (or thats what it seemed like)

YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEE! 😀 THanks...will get on this ASAP

me too, def sending asap, I feel like there is hope all of a sudden

you guys are lucky...i got a 34 and i'm in-state, except they screened me out pre-secondary

I got an interview with 32 O, I'm an OOS. But I withdrew my file. The turn around time is pretty good. Less than 2 weeks or so. But they do everything by mail.
Hope it helps..

I called this morning and was invited to be interviewed on MARCH 26.

I was complete roughly 2 weeks ago.

Is this really really late for Wayne? Is this potentially a waitlist spot?

I'm from Canada with a 3.9 / 33S.

I'm in state. 28P. I'm pretty sure they give interviews based on MCAT, at least for in state. OOS may be held to some different standards. Nonetheless, my original interview was for March 12, but I called and got it changed to Valentines Day.

To the OP--OOS with a MCAT below 29, recently got an invite for March 26, so the trend of invites via MCAT score may be right. I will be withdrawing though, so I hope that helps. Good luck 🙂

I called yesterday and was invited to be interviewed on March 26th too! I thought it seemed really late myself. Submitted about the secondary about two weeks ago. OOS with 31. See you at the interview!

I called yesterday and was told I had one for the 23rd. Ummm, is it possible to reschedule for earlier? Btw they told me they fill 1/6 of the class every month, so regardless of when you interview you have n equal chance of gaining acceptance

Well that's good news. I was a little concerned because it's so late in March...

No idea if you can call and move it up, but does it matter if they fill the class pretty evenly? Unless the waitlist is on a first come, first served basis. Anyone know anything about waitlists?

I wish I knew something about waitlists...as I am on it.

The consensus seems to be however, that despite the even filling of the class, that earlier is indeed better, as the waitlist moves from month to month. There was one individual who posted about being waitlisted in November and then later accepted in December. In addition, waitlisted individuals are encouraged to call on the monthly "Decision Date" to see if their status has changed.

I think a reasonable deduction, then, would be that earlier waitlisted individuals are continually evaluated, and a candidate who was waitlisted one month may be a more competitive applicant than the next batch, especially considering that they seem to group by MCAT scores. So it's possible that of two (otherwise identical) candidates, one interviewing in January with a 35 and one interviewing in February with a 30, that a spot would go to the earlier waitlisted candidate, and that the second candidate would then be put on the waitlist.

I don't know this to be true, of course, as it is just conjecture based upon what I've read in these forums. But I think the reasoning is logical...plus it helps to give me some hope. 😉

Hey, I just called and was able to reschedule. I'm now interviewing on February 28th.

Best of luck!

I've been on their "possible interview" pool for a couple months already. Anyone know the basis on how they invite OOSers?

According to the popular theory about MCAT determining interviews, you should have one. I'm OOS with 30/3.7 and I have an interview Monday(complete mid Dec). Sorry, I don' t know then...maybe you are lacking experiences or something?

what exactly should i expect from waynes interview???? i know its supposenly "chill," but how so?

can anyone shed some light on this for me.

thank you.

and yes, i have looked through the interview reviews on this site, im just looking for some more recent experiences...

Know your primary down cold and relax. Have some relevant questions about Wayne State and show interest.

wayne's interview was really relaxed. just know your secondary and primary apps. other than that know a little about the school and what's your interest in it (especially if you're oos). in interviewed in jan 29, and will find out on feb 28 if i'm in

for those OOS, what did you say when they asked you why Wayne?

for those OOS, what did you say when they asked you why Wayne?

I got in OOS and the primary reason I applied there was because of the commitment to serving the underserved. So in my interview I talked about that primarily and the school is so ridiculously underrated that it is easy to see other things about the school that are great. The interviews are really laid back. All the students are really friendly and sincerely like the school. Just state your reasons for wanting to go and do it passionately. If you haven't given it much thought you won't get in. Superficial answers will be easily noticied.
