Hi all,

Has anyone heard anything about Wayne State's MPH program? I saw that it's CEPH accredited, but I just wanted to know if/how it stands out from other schools. I live in Michigan and want to either attend U of M or Wayne, so I was just wondering if anyone had any advice!

Thanks!!🙂

Public health is really broad. What do you want to do with an MPH? What about public health interests you (e.g. epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health sciences, health management and policy, etc)? I also think figuring whether or not you are thinking of a career in academia or public health practice is a good start. Not to say that each school only gears you towards one of the routes, but I think the "flavor" of the school is influenced greatly by where they place their emphasis/what is their identity.

I think these considerations may influence which school you want to set your sights on.

Thanks! I'm interested in health behavior/health education, and epidemiology as well. I've worked in academic epidemiology, and it's been really interesting and great so far. I could see myself going either way, into academia or public health practice.

I know that U of M specifically has the health behavior/health education department which is different than the program Wayne offers so I'll probably focus mostly on U of M.

Exactly. Figure out your interests and go to the school that best fits that interest (not the other way around - i.e. wanting to go to a school because of the brand name)
