In years past it has been possible. The "student stay-over" or whatever it was that they called it was student run.

The other possibility would be to drop a PM to some of the WSU-SOM students here or over on the "Wayne State University part 2" thread (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=362739&page=16) and ask them if they would be willing to host you.

actually to chime in, both my parents are from davison (where michael moore went to high school, right near flint), and they both know him.

Being from Davison is nothing to be proud of. The right wing nutjobs in that town more than cancel moore out.

(I love michigan. it's pretty much the poster state for bad government in both parties)

I was wondering about this too. I was informed that they seem to interview by MCAT score, so if anyone with a score as low as mine has gotten some love, let me know. Otherwise I'll continue to hope that maybe next month could be my month....I did get an interview invite today, and for that I am sooooo very thankful! Seems like a Michigan option with cheap tuition just isnt in the cards for me.

My highest single score is a 28Q (hey there, MCAT twin!!), and my highest combined score is only a 29R. I would love an interview from MSUCHM- they're my frickin alma mater and they dont want to interview me 🙁

When I got my rejection letter from them last year they stated on the letter that they screen based off MCAT, you need at least a 9 in each section to be considered for an interview.

You got eight in VR, your PS and BS are quite good, thats probably why you scored an interview. As for the others, hang tight guys, patience is a virtue. I will say a prayer for all ya guys tonite 🙂

I agree; if you search MDapplicants.com, there have been people both last year and this year accepted with scores under 9 at Wayne...

Yea MSU is showing me no love... I'm on hold. I'm just hoping I get into a school this year because my GPA is steadily declining.

my brother and i have the exact same mcat (31), and both received interviews last week on the same day. i'm guessing they do in fact give interviews based on mcat scores, and will be getting to the 30-27 group in the next month, so hang in there!

also, we both had 8s in our verbal, so the "9" hypothesis does not hold, at least not this year.

So, I hear today, hopefully at one if I get into Wayne. There is still fourty minutes to one. I am so nervous, and the clock just dosent seem to move 🙁

I figured, If I watch some TV, I could kill time, but that dosent seem to work because there is nothing good on TV. I though I will make myself some instant noodles and have a snack...alas it actually took only a couple of minutes to cook the noodles today, unlike other days, and I ended up eating them in less than five minutes...Somehow, time seems to fly on other days, but today, these last fourty minutes are unforgiving. Read SND...too bad, already did. Check emails...too bad only a couple to check, and thats done too, read spam, then go get snail mail and read that, and thats done too, and still loads of time left....Write this post on SDN...took three minutes, still thirty five minutes left 🙁

Only if God made it such that time would not slow down on days like these.

If you got crazy high numbers in other sections, a eight in verbal is not necessary a indication of bad student. Good Luck, hope you have a very big smile in a few minutes 🙂

I was reading way earlier in this forum, and there were some questions about the "alternate list." It is not the same as the "wait list". Basically its one big pool of waitlisters, but the top candidates in the alternate list are considered being part of the "wait list". I got the wait list. good luck to everyone.

on my interview day, one of the students said that they interview ppl based on their mcat scores..which is pretty redic..like the higher mcat scorers get interviewed first and the lower mcat scorers get interviewed later..but she was only a student, so im not sure how legit that is. anyways, good luck to everyone waiting!

Yea it's very strange seeing all these highly qualified/high stat applicants getting the alternate list. Perhaps the school feels many of the interviewees are overqualified and will likely choose another institution (read: UofM) instead?

I'll add my own anecdote, a friend of mine got waitlisted there as well; he's instate and his numbers are 3.8gpa/38 mcat, and he's got the typical pre-med ECs (volunteering, research, leadership, etc.). But to no avail, he's waitlisted It pissed him off beause he's already been accepted to UofM, but he really wants to go to Wayne instead. Somehow he's good enough for Michigan, but not for Wayne? This process is so wacky.

The ACT/SAT/high school rank question is rather common. I was not asked that, but if you look at the interview questions posted for Wayne State here on SDN, you will find that the info is asked frequently, and I believe as some point I read here on SDN that a simple, I dont recall/wasent given a rank/or the actual rank is sufficient answer.

As for the other two questions, they probably should not ask, but I dont think there should be a problem answering that question. Could be just something that could be used to get a conversation going.

Yes, they asked me these questions at my interview as well, and I too found it to be strange and irrelevant. They also asked what my siblings did for a living, and I wanted to reply, "WTF does this have to do with my decision to pursue medicine?" I'd like to know what they do with that info. My guess is they're gathering info to steal our identities and stalk us on facebook.
