Most of people reading this SDN section (international dental) are in the same boat. We all took TOEFL, NBDE Part1 (some of us Part2), got our credentials evaluated by ECE or WES, and visited websites of prospective schools millions of times.

In my opinion questions like:
" My stats are TOEfl XX, NBDE XX, GPA X.XX. Do I stand a chance to get into this or that school?" are worthless. No one exactly knows what scores you need, and I don’t even think there are any "acceptance guaranteed scores". There are many factors that affect decision to be accepted or to be denied acceptance.

I think it is useless to ask these questions (maybe just to calm yourself, seeing others suggesting to improve one or another score, but overall “having chance to be accepted”).But these answers from others that are in the same boat worth nothing. People should look what minimum scores does school require and search through the old acceptance topics.

We need just to spend little more time looking through the old topics and stop asking these nonsense questions.

You're right. But it's going to keep happening. Hope springs eternal, along with the need for validation.

How can you say such a thing? ofcourse its these discussions tht have kept the this site alive. I guess the core of this website is to freely express the difficulties n help even if it meant in a small way if one can ... coz as u say no one knows wht will click. SO ITS LIKE NO STONE UNTURNED. IF WE CAN DO IN ANY THING TO IMPROVE OUR CHANCE EVERYONE WOULD DO THT. I FR SURE NEVER KNEW HOW TO PREPARE FOR INTERVIEW OR A BENCH TEST AND I THANK TO THESE THREADS IN INTERNATIONAL DENTIST FORUM... PPL WHO POST THEIR EXPERIENCE R REAL ONES... ONE CAN MAKE OUT WHTS REAL N FAKE.

Its sad tht people who run this site fail to understand this simple concept .. try to be in the shoe of a student aiming to get into a dental school frm a foreign nation. NOT A EASY TASK. .....THINK BOUT IT

THAT ZILLION TIMES OF SEARCHING THE SCHOOL SITE FR INFO/ DISCUSSING WHT TO EXPECT WOULD ALL TRUN FRUITFUL ON THT SPECIAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FTD WHN HE/SHE RECIEVES THT ACCEPTANCE LETTER.

I like this site and discussions on it. I really appreciate people sharing their experience, their opinions about schools, programs, and admission requirements.

But "What chance do I have with XX, XX, X.XX scores?" No way, ... it's useless and leads to no further discussion. People who have lower scores might feel little upset, and people with higher scores might feel little better, but there is no valid or useful answers to such questions.

I encourage people to share their stats, so everyone can see how competitive is to get into one or another school; I thank people for sharing their knowledge and experience. But I disparage posts asking about "chances to get into this or that school".

I cannot agree more... But anxiety is one major troublemaker, and we are all entitled to have a different reaction to it. Also we are all entitled to have a difference of perception.

That been said, it is a free land... Let it be even flow!

PS Pure abstract exists only in our minds!

Absolutely. I cannot agree with you more. Its a public forum and people have the liberty to express their concerns in whatever way or form they'd like to. I can understand someone's frustration on some silly questions/comments BUT never try to control what others should be posting.
P.S: Healthy debates and disagreements are good.
