I hope this is never a problem for anyone, but what happens if the weather prevents you from getting to an interview? Do they interview you the next avail slot? do you have to try to reschedule? it would suck to sit in an airport and miss an interview at one of your top programs.
Just curious how this works out-why is interview season in the dead of winter anyway?
thanks,

Interview slots are limited and already filled, so I'm not sure how that would work. They may create a backup date, or have a specific date with less interviewees that date. The problem is the number of faculty members available to interview.

Has anyone had to deal with this? Would I better off trying to drive to some of the interviews that I originally considered flying to?
This latest storm has made me worry since I'm looking at going to a lot of colder areas for interviews...

I flew for a lot of my interviews, and I didn't have a problem. In the two interview seasons I've been through already at my current program, I don't think a lot have missed due to weather. Some have found themselves here for an extra day or two thanks to a blizzard (hey, we took them out and showed them you can have fun in a blizzard).

Streetdoc,

I had to cancel an interview at Creighton two years ago because I couldn't make it across Iowa in a snowstorm. I called and told them what was going on and they pretty much told me that it was too bad. I didn't beg, as this was pretty late in season and I was getting sick of interviewing.

But, yes, you could potentially miss out on an interiview. Especially if it's late in the interview season.

.... First post in almost two years.... Yay!😎

Holy cow BellKicker! I have not seen you around forever! And never on this forum. Seems as though talk of cold weather is your bat sign.

Maybe not as much as this BellKicker, but it seems I have seen a post from you in a while too. You used to be a frequent poster. So, either "welcome back" or I am just not paying attention.

Were you doing something cool?
