My school doesn't have a committee and a school I am applying to wants a non-academic professional letter.

The only one I have is a DO letter that I think talks about my interest in osteopathy and this is an MD school. What should I do? Send the DO letter or send a nonscience professor and 2 science and cross my fingers?

You can use a letter from a DO as a non-academic professional even for MD schools. I certainly did. I would follow their guidelines and do such

Yeah I just feel like it's pretty silly to do if the letter is geared towards osteopathic medicine but I think not following their guidelines is probably worse. Thanks!

Do mind if I ask if you had success at schools with the DO letter sent to MD schools? IIRC you had multiple IIs last cycle.

haha I interviewed only at MD schools and received multiple acceptances so it panned out just fine. I wouldn't fret

No, I mean did you have any IIs at schools where you sent the DO letter to. Hofstra is the one with this requirement -- did you interview there?
I sent the DO letter as part of my committee letter to every MD school to which I applied and received interviews and acceptances - sorry if that's vague

Ah, I see. Your committee could have done you a solid and made the letter applicable to MD schools too. I'm going to send the DO letter and hope that they don't auto-reject me because of it. Surely they would be able to see that it's a confidential letter that I don't have access to read.

if you had applied at my med school (MD school) with a letter from a DO it would be no big deal as long as it's a good letter. If you sent a letter from a DO that talked a lot about how much you want to be an OSTEOPATHIC physician, we might pause for a second and wonder why you are applying MD.
