My first DAT scores were:
19 AA, 17 BIO, 17 GEN, 17 OCHEM, 25 RC, 17 QR, 16 PAT

I retook, and did worse in science and reading, but better in QR and PAT
17 AA, 16 BIO, 18 GEN, 14 OCHEM, 19 RC, 19 QR, 20 PAT

I've call around, and some schools take the best scores from each section, some take the best set of scores, etc. I'm kind of at a loss for words, considering I put in a lot of preparation using Chad's Vids, DAT destroyer, Ferallis, etc.

What do you guys recommend? GPA is a 3.4 for both science and overall.

Edit: If you put the best from each section, my score isn't too bad.

What were your studying tactics for the first 2 times?

I studied Chad's Videos, read Ferrallis and Baron's each twice over, did all of Chad's Quizzes twice, did DAT Bootcamp, and Bio Q Vault. I was actually shocked when I got the score report, as I felt pretty good through the science section. Bio seemed toughest during the test. Bootcamp scores were averaging between 18-20 on the chemistries, with 22's on the Bios.

How did some of that information get gathered? I called LSU and they take the highest for each section.

Doc is a beast. Some say he pulls teeth ... with his bear hands. (anyone?)

But your studying material looks fine. I think you might need to focus on your sciences. If you got 22 Bio on Bootcamp and got 16 and 17 on the real thing, you either need to figure out why there is discrepancy or make sure you score much higher on the science sections on the practice tests. I feel like Bootcamp was pretty close to the real thing, so I think problem might be between taking the practice tests and taking the real thing.

Haha, well I will trust his judgement and I very much appreciate his list; it's helpful for my situation.

Yeah, I've got everything set up to apply and what not, and then I got hit with this. Still really just in a weird state of shock haha. I wasn't nervous, knew what was going on, etc.

Would you think it would be a bad idea to go ahead and apply? I can always look at post-baccs and masters at a later time. I work full-time at the moment, so money's not too much of a concern.

Thats really up to you buddy. If you want to give it a shot this cycle, go ahead. I think you still have a chance.

But I personally would plan for the future and retake and treat it like it's your last chance to take it ... ever.

Haha, most definitely. I'm already enrolled in a few classes for the fall. This pretty much is the last shot DAT wise, considering most schools will only consider the first 3 DAT scores. I suppose one perk is to know that I have several months to get nice and prepared.
