tucom-nv just tried to screen me out based on an mcat score that they had not received. i received a letter thanking me for my application but saying that my mcat score is below the minimum standard--which mine is not. i took the mcat in august and aacomas mailed my mcat score the day this letter was written. so goofy. i think it is just a mixup--and have emailed roger...but i wonder if they thought i was applying without an mcat score--period? moral of the story, august mcateers (i like the sound of that): fax your score reports--even if aamcas says they have sent them

hi, i am wondering what was the minimum mcat requirement.

23 is the minimum cutoff for NV. They do not say that online, but Roger spoke at our school last week and told us.

I know of several students that are below a 20 at that school. That must be the average, or a new minimum.

you're right--the letter says 23 is the minimum for consideration

The same thing happened to me with MI. They only have one letter for unreceived and sub-par MCAT scores. Freaked me out, but I faxed in a copy, and was invited for an interview a weer later.

The minimum of 23 on the MCAT was set in place starting with the class of 2010. And that is a true minimum, if you don't have a 23+ you will not be invited for an interview (as I understand it).

As far as the OP goes, give Roger Corbman a call next week and let him know what's going on, he is a great guy and will take care of whatever problem may have occurred.

You said under a 23 = no interview, does that also mean no secondary? Their website says:

Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine is one of the few medical schools that pre-screens off of the primary (AACOMAS) application. The qualifying bar is reviewed every year. Typically, successful candidates earn Science and Cumulative GPA's of 3.0 or geater and have obtained a minimum combined MCAT score of 23, though the Admissions and Standards Committee will, on a case by case basis, look below these figures.

So the "look below these figures" no longer applies even for high GPA's? I'm scared now, mine is lower, but I'm retaking in January and Roger said I would still be considered with my current & new Jan score.

Well, I think you just answered your own question. Case by case basis. You took the initiative to call Roger and explain your situation. If you has just submitted you probably would have gotten a "thanks but no thanks" letter. This is a perfect example of why it pays to befriend the director of admissions. … plus, Roger is cool as hell. 😀
