WES grade conversion

Hi,
It has been 2 months since I started the grade conversion process w/ WES. A month ago, they had all documents they needed. Now their web page shows "waiting for verification from the institution". It is next to impossible to talk to anyone over the phone. The country in question is India. Does anyone know how long this whole process will take?

I went thru the process 7 yrs ago, from HS to US college. It did take some time. Anyway, I remember it was hard to even get a phone#. Here it is:

USE J.silny or ECE--- www.jsilny.com or www.ece.org

they r good.
I have used ECE and Jsilny both.

How much time did they say on their website?

For India, WES want transcript to come directly from Indian University. But, Bombay university doesnot issue transcript. Affiliated College issues transcript. So WES did not work for me.

Jsilny and ECE accepted the sealed transcript that my college issued to me when I left India.
Jsilny even returned the transcript back after evaluation was done.

What about you?
write in detail what u did?
Have u transferred ur Indian degree to US college i.e. does it appears in US college transcript?

Hi there,
Thx for the responses. I am aware of the other orgs that do grade conversions but I have been advised that WES is regarded highly by most med schools. I am planning on sending my originals to FIS and have them convert the grades just as a back up. I did have my college in India send grades directly to WES, just fyi.

Surprise, surprise!
I just checked the status and looks like now they have every thing they need. The gave an expected date of response - Sept 20th. Not bad! I am glad I don't have to waste another 150 bucks on FIS.

I had done my evaluation last year through ECE and this year through Josef Silny. I see a big descripency with Josef Silny, they lowered my GPA by almost a point. Did you have any descripency between those evaluations? I am thinking of filing a complaint against josef Silny, therefore your input will help

I've used ECE, WES and josef silny

ECE and Jsilny for educational purpose ( course by course with GPA)
WES ( only GPA)

WES gave me 3.3 GPA but other two gave me around 2.4.

your complaint may be futile because all of them has different mechanism that they follow. As a result discrepancies are going to happen.

But no harm in calling and talking with them.

I have not submitted evaluation to medical school . I am going to submit if they ask for it.
I don't think they will ask me because I will have 100 hrs by spring08 at US college.

Are u all going to submit evaluations anyway?

I am in the same boat - I have foreign degree, and I am very concerned. My degree was in English, and I took premed classes in US community college. I sent WES to abot 6-7 schools - just called them and asked if they prefer to have it.
Up till now, I have not met anyone in the same situation.

Sorry to break this to you, but I believe that most (if not all) US med schools require you to have a college degree (or a minimum of 90 credits) from a US or Canadian 4 year accredited institution.
Go on the schools' websites and you can read it for yourself.

yes, some do want to see 90 units in the US, which I have (community college+few classes from 4 year school), but many like USC, say that 1 or 2 years in the US will suffice. I know I am at a big risk, but we'll see. I know schools, say, in NY or Yale, or Keck are more understanding towards ppl w/foreign degrees.
