This thread is for discussing applications to Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine in the 2024-2025 (class of 2029) cycle.
Hi! One year I had an interview in October and the second year I have an interview in November. I had submitted my application almost at the same time both years as well. Also, I think in the past they've gone all the way to January/February so if you don't get an invite in the fall, definitely don't give up hope! For specific dates, I would look through the forum thread from last cycle and the cycle before because this topic was discussed a lot. Good luck!! ❤️Hello! Good luck to everyone applying to WesternU this cycle! Does anyone know when WesternU notify us regarding interviews? Thanks!
Thank you so much! Did you receive an acceptance to WesternU and what were your stats? Please only share if you feel comfortable! I am feeling pretty nervous because I know my cumulative GPA could be stronger. Hopefully something else will catch their attention on my application! 😩Hi! I was waitlisted both years! I'll shoot you a dm with specifics so we can chat bc my app changed a bunch between the two cyclesThank you so much! Where can I find this form?Does anyone know if WesternU will update us regarding our recalculated GPAs? I submitted a "repeated coursework form". Thanks!
It is on your applicant portal after you have submitted your VMCAS application.Where can I find this form?
As far as I know they are only doing virtual interviews, it has been this way since the pandemicHi! I’m looking at Western’s website and I’m finding answers to all of my questions about their interview except one: are interviews conducted virtually, in-person, or is there a choice?
I cannot find an official explanation on their website, but I can only imagine that the point of the repeated coursework form is so that they can calculate your GPA using only the scores of your highest attempts. The university I’m getting my degree from counts all attempts at a class in GPA calculation, so as far as I can tell, Western is wanting to make sure they have your GPA calculated as they want it to be, using only your highest attempts and not all of your attempts.Hello guys! Can someone guide me on filling out the repeated coursework form please?
I’m confused on entering the number of units, do we enter the number of units the course was or do we enter the number of units that show on our transcripts? For example, I attended a school that only factored in your second attempt so for the first time my transcript shows “ 0 units earned/attempted” although that class was technically 4 units/credits. How did you guys enter it? Also, Western U only factors in your highest attempt or do they average it out? I’m just confused on the recalculation especially since my school only took into account the highest score. TIA!!!
You got this! This is my first time applying and I'm in love with the school. Hopefully we get good news this year and can be classmates!4th time applying. I was waitlisted last year and was so discouraged after not gaining admission that I had decided not to apply again this year. One of the doctors at the hospital I work at really pushed me to apply again so HERE I AM. Good luck everyone. Fingers crossed this is the year. 🤞
has anyone heard back with an interview invite? I got an email from them today saying they had a large volume of applicants and that the process may take a while
I received that email earlier in the cycle on September 10th. I wonder if it's sent to applicants at different stages depending on when they submitted the VMCAS application? But otherwise, I haven't heard anything about interview invites yet.I didn’t receive that email, thats strange.
when did you submit your application? They received my application on Aug 30thI received that email earlier in the cycle on September 10th. They received my application on August 8th.when did you submit your application? They received my application on Aug 30th
yeah then maybe they are spreading out the emails, I wonder why they don't just send them all out at once haha. They received my application on August 8th.
Yeah it seems that way but Im not sure. I think it should be okay though because they don't start sending out interviews until Late fall. I'm guessing that will begin mid-October (hopefully)!yeah then maybe they are spreading out the emails, I wonder why they don't just send them all out at once haha.
No, its an email titled "Application Still With Admissions Committee" stating:
This email is to let you know that your application is still with the College of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Committee.Due to the volume of applications submitted, it may take some time to receive the Committee’s decision. We will certainly notify you when there is any change in your application status.
I didn’t receive an email either…Oh, I didn’t receive that email then. I’m not sure what that means for me
I didn’t receive an email either…
Late, around September 6th.When did you submit/get your app verified?
Late, around September 6th.
So bummed. I got an email that my graduate level Systems Physiology won’t count for upper division physiology. How does that make sense? I took anatomy & physiology in undergrad but it was only a 200 level class.
I had to get my graduate physiology course approved and placed on their database prior to applying, since all prerequisites must be listed on their database. That might be why.
Thank you so much for clarifying. So I should just withdraw my application at this point I think
Its definitely worth reaching out to them to see if the course can still be approved. I’m not sure if it can be done after applying but it can’t hurt to try.
