When that person said 26th they meant this past weekend, February 26th. The next interview is March 19th.
 
hey guys:
Im from the jan interview and I am placed on hold. I do have pharmacy volunteer experience but I dont have the pharm tech license. do you think i should try to obtain my license? is it ging to make a difference in the commitee's decision now?

Nope. 30percent is right. It's not going to make a difference. The admissions counselors said that your application won't be reviewed again, even if new material is added to your application.

i'm a new member. I am a reapplicant for Western. I havent heard anything from them since oct 18th. I'm so worry and hopeless. Should I just give up? I have a 3.0 GPA

There is still one more interview in March so there is still a chance. However, your GPA is on the lower end of the scale. Because you are a reapplicant, did you show that you improved from the last cycle? Stronger grades, ECs, pharmacy experience, essays, etc?

If things don't go your way this cycle, I would suggest boosting up that GPA somehow and possibly taking the PCATs so you can apply more broadly for the next cycle. Good luck!

Don't give up yet, I had a 3.1 GPA and I interviewed last week, I am also a reapplicant. keep your hopes up, they called me very last minute the 4 days before the interview.
 
Hey spongebob99, thank you for your reply. It surely makes me feel better. It's just waiting for interview invitation is killing me. Last year they put me on hold and this is I still dont know.... How was your interview go?

I think it went ok, I was really nervous though, I hoping I didn't forget anything.Last year did you get an interview then get put on hold?
 
I got put on hold at Western. I would like to know how many people get accepted from the on hold list. I called the school and I was told 70% of the students of 400 students are either on hold or accepted.

According to previous posts, roughly half of last year's class was from the hold or waitlist.

When did you interview? What is the difference between hold and alternate? Which is better? At the interview it sounded like every on hold eventually became an alternate. IDK

Just to chip in my own experience; I'm a re-applicant this year as well. Interviewed last year, got placed on hold and didn't get in. I interviewed this year in January and was accepted, so don't give up till the better end (and even then, don't give up😉), you never know how things might turn out!

As BabyBelle said, if things don't work out and you still have the passion to try it again, definitely try to improve your gpa (such as re-taking classes you did poorly in or just taking more classes! I took a few at a cc with my time off) and your application in general. You never know how much a difference you can make in a year, in terms of fine tuning your application/PharmCAS and what not. Last year I was straight rejected from USC pre-interview and managed to slip in to a last date for Western. This year I interviewed early for both USC and Western, so it's definitely possible!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think everyone gets put on hold initially. Then from hold, you can go from accept, alternate or reject. If you are placed as an alternate, then you have to wait for people to give up their seats and then you can get moved up to accept.

Thank Cubez, I know that if i have a passion for it then eventually I will be accepted somewhere tight? It's just as time goes by, it'll be harder and harder and the pressure is even more.... May be I sound too depressed🙁

My interview was on Jan 29th. So far, I haven't heard from them except I was on hold. Well I am nervously waiting for the results.🙄
 
I received a message from Western University of Health Sciences today. I will call them tomorrow morning. I hope that they will schedule me for an interview on 3/19. Keep my fingers crossed.

Yay! I am invited for an interview at Western on 3/19th. I am so happy about that. I hope I will do well for this interview because Western is my first-choice school!

Congrats to everyone that got accepted. just got the call from MRS Mendoza and scheduled my interview for 3/19 😉 however I was wondering if i have a chance to get in. I got accepted to MCPHS worcester, but i heard a lot of bad rumors about the program (in MCPHS). Any suggestions about western?? also how did the interview go for the ppl that got interviewed??

If you received an interview, then you have a chance to get in. It would be helpful to check out the school feedback section to see what kind of interview questions may be asked. You'd be surprised on how similar questions come up during the actual interview.
 
Hi everyone,, I am new to sdn.. I just recieved a call from Daniell inviting me for an interview on the 19th.:laugh: I am super excited but nervous as this is my very first interview. Any tips on how to prepare would be appreciated !!

Cools! you got over 10 days to prepare! Congrats on making into Worcester! Are you from the East Coast? I love Western because it's located near everything! Everyone at the school is nice and welcoming. The weather here is great, good old Sunny soCAL! As long as you get an interview, You got a HIGH chance of making it in. Its like a 1 out of 3 people kinda thing, but maybe even better because the others might choose other schools to attend. It good that you have a backup, because then you can let your nerves go and relax more.

Never give up on what your passionate about, right? 😛 Thanks though! Congrats on USC! I had it on the top of my list but I got put on AC, but Western was way up there too. Either way I get to stay in southern california...wouldn't have it any other way 🙂

And if anyone has questions about the interview or wants to know more about my experience...shoot me a pm because I'm quite on and off here. Nothing like an email to tell me to come back!

Thanks for the congrats. Yea I'm from MI and let me tell u the weather here is beyond bad. I'd rather be in Cali for sure lol. Do u know about the Block system that they have and how it works?

Thanks for the info. But I couldn't find the school feedback section for the interview questions. do u know where i can find it?
 
hi all,
I'm very discouraged. At this point I have not heard anything from Western. And the last interview is next week. I dont believe in hope and miracle anymore. I am literally crying right now... I really dont know what to do... Last year, they put me on hold and this year I still didnt receive an interview invitation.... I cant stand it anymore.....🙁🙁🙁

Was there an improvement in your application from last cycle to this cycle? Each year, the pool of candidates is different. They may have received more applications this cycle.

On another note, I don't think you should lose hope. From reading previous posts, it seems like there have been people who have been invited for an interview even a few days prior (e.g. Croutonz! 😀👍). People may give up their spots last minute when they hear from other schools. I know my friend gave up her upcoming interview spot because she was accepted to her first choice.
 
I have retaken a few class and working full time as a pharmacy tech. I did some community work as well. My pharmacist manager wrote a very good LORs for me. i hope that they will look at the LORs to see how hard I have trying instead of weighing more on GPA side

I interviewed on feb 26, from what I hear they do take everything into account. I haven't heard back yet though. Have you contacted an admissions counselor, when I called before I got invited they kept on telling me my file was in review, and she said that was a good thing, it means they're still looking at your file and theres still a chance for an interview, maybe you should try calling if you haven't done so already
 
hey spongebob99, I called Elaine and she said that my file is still under review and she hope that I will get an interview too... She has been really nice to me whenever I called. it;s just I dont wanna bug her all the time.. I guess they still review my file
